NE10 Volleyball Report: Week 8

EASTON, Mass. (October 29, 2019) – Stonehill College volleyball's junior Sophia Poveda was named Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

The Skyhawks saw three 3-1 victories this week over NE10 opponents, kicking it off a win at home versus Saint Anselm College, followed by two wins against Le Moyne College and the College of Saint Rose on the road. This is her first honor from the Conference in her career.

The junior led the team with 3.58 kills per set as she only tallied 10 errors in the three matches with a .317 hitting percentage. Poveda also tallied four aces and 33 digs for 2.75 digs per set. She also recorded two double-doubles in the week bringing her career total to 16. She also saw time at the net as she averaged 0.33 blocks per set.

Against the Hawks, Poveda registered 13 kills and 12 digs and in the next win against the Dolphins, she recorded 16 kills, to match her season high, and 13 digs. Currently, she is second on the team in kills per set (2.69), aces per set (0.36), and digs per set (2.66).

Stonehill will host Pace University on Friday, November 1 with a 7:00 p.m. start time and Adelphi University on Saturday, November 2 with a 3:00 p.m. start time for two of three of their final home regular season games.
