Volleyball Wins Third-Straight At Le Moyne, 3-1

Poveda tallies 16th career double-double

SYRACUSE, New York (October 25, 2019) – The Stonehill College volleyball team won its third-straight match with a 3-1 victory over Le Moyne College Friday night on Ted Grant Court in Northeast-10 Conference play with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-14, and 25-16.

By The Numbers:

  • Stonehill (12-7, 5-2 NE10) saw three Skyhawks with double-digit kills, while two recorded double-digit digs.
  • Junior Sophia Poveda tallied her 16th double-double of her career as she recorded a team high 16 kills and 13 digs.
  • Sophomore Abby Remick followed Poveda with 12 kills, while classmate Clare Feeman registered 10 kills, a match-high four aces and four blocks.  
  • Le Moyne (10-8, 4-2 NE10) saw Mary Talty with a match-high 17 kills, while Emily Mosack recorded 18 digs and Meagan Murphy registered 12 digs.  

How it Happened:

  • The Skyhawks held a one-point advantage, 8-7, before the Dolphins went on an 11-1 run, for a nine-point lead, 18-9. Stonehill tried to fight back as they came within one, 21-22, but Le Moyne took game one 25-22.
  • Stonehill saw the first lead of game two, 4-3, and there were six tied scores before the Skyhawks went on a 15-6 run to tie the match, 1-1, with a score of 25-17.

  • Feeman tallied a match-high four aces and 10 kills
    Stonehill saw its highest hitting percentage of the match with a .406 hitting clip as the Dolphins saw a low of .034 in the third set. Le Moyne cut the Skyhawks' lead to two, 6-8, but Stonehill powered through with eight-straight points to extend its lead to 10, 16-6. Le Moyne was only able to come within nine, 7-16, before Stonehill was able to take game three, 25-13.
  • Stonehill saw the lead throughout the fourth game, as Le Moyne was only able to tie the game three times, 3-3, before falling behind for the Skyhawks to secure the win with a score of 25-16.

Outside the Lines:

  • Stonehill has now won three-straight NE10 matches to match its win-streak this season.
