Volleyball Forces Fifth Set, Defeats Jefferson, Falls to West Chester

Maier tallied a season high 18 kills against the Golden Rams

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pennsylvania (September 20, 2019) – The Stonehill College volleyball team wrapped up play in the NE10/CACC/PSAC Challenge, hosted by East Stroudsburg University by defeating Jefferson University, 3-2, and falling to West Chester University, 3-2, on Saturday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.  

Match 1: Stonehill 3 – Jefferson 2

Match 2: Stonehill 2 – West Chester 3

West Chester kicked off the first game with a 9-0 lead and held the advantage throughout the set, as Stonehill was only able to come within two, 11-13 and 21-23, before the Golden Rams came up on top for a 25- 21 win.

Stonehill saw their first lead of the match in the second set, 13-12, after coming from behind, to take their first frame, 25-14.

The Golden Rams then bounced back in the third game, as they held the lead throughout for a 25-22 victory behind a 0.250 hitting percentage.

Stonehill would force a game five after taking over the lead, 17-15, and holding on for a 25-21 fourth set win.

The Golden Rams saw their highest hitting percentage of 0.727, making no errors in the effort, as the Skyhawks saw a 0.067 hitting clip. West Chester took the fifth set, 15-6 for their 12th-straight victory.
