Poveda tallied a match-high 10 digs and two aces

EASTON, Massachusetts (October 9, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team defeated Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption College in three-straight sets for their eighth victory in three sets this season with set scores of 25-10, 25-18, and 25-13 Tuesday night at Merkert Gymnasium.

For the Skyhawks (9-6, 5-2 NE10), Allyson Hughes lead the match with her 11th match this season with double-digit kills, registering 14 with her highest hitting percentage of the season, .440. Freshman Abby Remick followed with 11 kills and her highest hitting clip of the season, .769. Sophomore Sophia Poveda recorded 10 digs, for a match high, and two aces, while freshman Lauren Wilke notched 38 assists and junior libero Rachel Dunlavy tallied nine digs.

In the Skyhawks 14th-straight win over the Greyhounds, Assumption scored the first point of the match and tied up the first set 2-2, but Stonehill held the advantage the rest of the way. Dunlavy was part of a 10-point run that put the Skyhawks up by 16, 23-7, and then Stonehill closed the game after Assumption put two points on the board, 24-9.


Remick notched the second-highest kills of the game, registering 11 

The Greyhounds saw its highest hitting percentage of the match in the second set, .240, and its largest lead of the match, 11-8, before the Skyhawks tied up the set for the eighth time, 15-15, to regain the momentum. With an 11-3 run, Stonehill was able to take the second frame, 25-18.

The Skyhawks saw its highest hitting percentage of the match, averaging .652, with only two hitting errors, while the Greyhounds averaged a .074 hitting percentage. Stonehill once again took the lead in the third set, as Poveda was part of six-straight points, 12-5, to be included in a 12-2 run, 18-7. The score toggled back and forth for a bit before the Skyhawks capitalized on an Assumption attacking error.
