MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (October 6, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team fell to Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm College Saturday afternoon at Stoutenburgh Gym, 3-1, with set scores of 20-25, 25-22, 15-25, and 21-25.

For the Skyhawks (8-6, 4-2 NE10), sophomore Sophia Poveda notched her fourth-career double-double registering 11 kills and 13 digs, while Allyson Hughes tallied her second match this season with 20 plus kills and the match-high. Freshman Lauren Wilke recorded her sixth double-double of the season chipping in 36 assists and 10 digs, while junior libero Rachel Dunlavy was the other Skyhawk to notch double-digit digs tallying 12.

With a 3-0 lead, the Hawks continued dominating the ball as it extended its lead to eight, 17-9. Stonehill recorded four-straight points to close the gap to four, 13-17, but Saint Anselm took the first set after not giving up the lead, 25-20.

After falling behind once again in the second set, Stonehill quickly tied the game three times, 10-10, before the Hawks saw its biggest lead of five, 21-16. With a 9-1 run, Stonehill was able to secure the frame with a 25-22 victory, tying the match at one set each, 1-1.

Stonehill saw its lowest hitting percentage of the match in the third frame, .074, as they only saw one lead, 2-1, through the set, as Saint Anselm regained the lead with a 25-15 victory.

The Hawks held their highest hitting percentage of the afternoon in the fourth set, .444, while the Skyhawks saw their second-highest of the match, 220. Saint Anselm saw the first lead of the fourth set, 3-0, and Stonehill quickly got on top with a one-point advantage, 12-11. After three tied scores, the Skyhawks expanded its lead to five, 19-14, but the Hawks took back the advantage and match-point with an 11-2 run, 25-21.  

Stonehill hosts Assumption College on Tuesday, October 9 at 7:00 p.m. for its Dig Pink Match. The Skyhawks will be collecting donations at their match on Tuesday for the Side-Out Foundation to help fund breast cancer education and cutting edge research and treatment.
