Wilke tallied 26 assists, nine digs, and a match-high four blocks


Hughes led the team with 11 kills and has now registered six matches with double digit kills this season

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (September 11, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team fell 3-0 in its Northeast-10 Conference opener to American International College Tuesday night with set scores of 22-25, 19-25, and 22-25.  

For the Skyhawks, senior Allyson Hughes led the team with 11 kills, while freshman Clare Feeman notched eight kills and a .389 hitting percentage. Freshman setter Lauren Wilke notched 26 assists, nine digs, and four blocks, which led the match as junior libero Rachel Dunlavy chipped in 16 digs.

American International saw the lead for all of the first set, while Stonehill tied the frame twice, 4-4. The Skyhawks were able to close the gap to two, 22-24, after a 12-6 run, but the Yellow Jackets closed the set with a kill from Andrea Serra, 25-22.

Stonehill saw its first lead of the match in the second set, getting ahead on an American International attack error, 4-3. With its biggest advantage of four, 13-9, Stonehill was able to keep a two-point lead, 17-15 until American International tied the set at 17, 17-17, and ran with a 10-2 run to take set two, 25-19.

The Yellow Jackets' .333 hitting percentage in the third set was the highest of the match, but the Skyhawks were able to take its second lead of the match. Stonehill tied the set at six, 6-6, and ran with the advantage to get ahead by three, 16-13. The Skyhawks kept a two-point lead for most of the frame, 20-18, until American International ran with a 7-2 run for match point, 25-22

Stonehill hosts NE10 Conference Merrimack College on Saturday, September 15 at Merkert Gymnasium for a 1:00 p.m. match.
