DeLanty, Givens Receive All-NE10 Honors

EASTON, Mass. (November 17, 2017) – The Stonehill College volleyball team's senior Katherine DeLanty (Smithtown, New York/Smithtown West) was tabbed on the All-Northeast-10 Conference, while freshman Jessica Givens (Albuquerque, New Mexico/St. Pius X) was named to the All-Rookie Team, as announced by the league on Friday.

DeLanty, a middle blocker, has been an all-around player for the Skyhawks, as she has recorded impressive numbers in all categories this season as she was named to the NE10 All-Conference second team. The senior has averaged 3.02 kills per set for second on the team, while she has also notched a .252 hitting percentage, good for first on the team. She has also registered 0.26 aces per set to lead the team and 1.62 digs per set, good for fifth on the team. Lastly, she has averaged 0.90 blocks per set this year, for an all-time high for her with 83 total blocks this season bringing her total to 284 blocks in four years.

She has put up career best numbers in kills per set, total aces and aces per set, digs per set, and total blocks.

The native of Smithtown, New York is also ranked in the conference in multiple categories, including fifth in blocks per set, ninth in kills per set, 10th in hitting percentage, and 42nd in aces.

This year alone, she has recorded five double-doubles and 17 matches with double-digit kills.

The NE10 honored her one week as Co-Player of the Week in October, as she helped the team to a 2-1 week with 3-0 wins over Assumption College and Southern Connecticut State University. She also chipped in 15 kills and 17 digs in a hard fought battle in a 3-2 loss against LIU Post.

During her four years in the Purple and White, DeLanty has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, while she has also been tabbed on the Skyhawk Invitational All-Tournament Team last season. The 2014 graduate of Smithtown High School West will graduate in May with a degree in healthcare administration and her name will be etched in the Stonehill College volleyball all-time leaderboard in the top 10 in total blocks and block assists.


Givens

Freshman Givens was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team after guiding the team to a .172 hitting percentage with her 10.09 assists per set in her first season with the Skyhawks. The setter is ranked second in the NE10 rankings in assists per set, while she is also third on the team in blocks per set, averaging 0.38.

Givens was named Rookie and Setter of the Week as she led the Skyhawks to a 2-1 week with 3-0 victories over Assumption College and Southern Connecticut State University, and a 3-2 battle against LIU Post. That week she averaged 12.00 assists per game, 0.55 blocks per set, 0.27 aces per set, and 2.00 digs per set.

The freshman is a 2017 graduate of St. Pius X and played four years of volleyball. She was named JV captain her sophomore and junior years and tabbed on the All-Metro All-Academic team her senior year. She also played club volleyball for Albuquerque Rebels Volleyball.

Stonehill, seeded fifth in the NE10 Tournament will face top-seeded New Haven University tonight at 5:00 p.m. in West Haven, Connecticut in Charger Gymnasium in the first semifinal match.
