EASTON, Mass. (September 10, 2016) – The Stonehill women's volleyball team recorded its third-straight 3-0 match, including bypassing Felician University and Dominican (N.Y.) College Saturday at the Skyhawks Invitational.
Stonehill (3-3) junior Katherine DeLanty (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) set the tone for the Skyhawks as she tallied 25 kills between the two matches putting her on the All-Tournament Team. Taylor Stevens (Foster, R.I./Pilgrim) assisted in the charge as she racked up 68 helpers in Saturday's victories, which also led her to being named to the All-Tournament Team. Allyson Hughes (Modesto Calif./Big Valley Christian) was the only other Skyhawk to register double-digit kills, with 10.
Stonehill 3, Felician 0
The Skyhawks defeated the Golden Eagles in set scores of 25-22, 25-14, and 25-16.
Felician's only lead of the match included a four-point advantage, 15-11, until Stonehill went on a 14-7 run to secure the first set, 25-22.
The Skyhawks opened up the second frame with a 9-4 mark, but the Golden Eagles closed the gap to three, 8-11, with a block by Carmen Shaw and Hannah Skendziel. Stonehill persisted opening the frame back up with a 10-point lead, 24-14, and then wrapping up the frame with a set point.
In the final set, the Golden Eagles did not see the lead, as the Skyhawks drove through the frame with only allowing Felician to tally a maximum of three-straight points, 7-9. DeLanty recorded four of her 12 kills, including match point, in the third set.

Stonehill 3, Dominican 0
With set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-16, the Skyhawks soared into another victory over Dominican in the last match of the evening.
The Lady Chargers came within two, 10-12, but the Skyhawks dominated as it finished the first set with a 13-2 run, 25-12.
Stonehill's early 11-6 lead set the pace for the rest of the frame, as Dominican would only come within four, 15-19, before the Skyhawks knocked down six points for the second set win, 25-16.
The Lady Charger's only lead of the match, came in a 6-2 run to kick off the third frame. DeLanty was able to drive home the Skyhawks with five kills keeping Dominican out of reach for a final set score of 25-16.
Stonehill will host Post University Tuesday, September 13 for a 6 p.m. match at the Merkert Gymnasium.
