EASTON, Mass. (November 21, 2014) – Stonehill College senior setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Illinois/York) and junior outside hitter Delia Phillips (St. James, New York/Smithtown East) have both earned Daktronics NCAA DII Volleyball All-East Region honors, it was announced yesterday.
Iverson, who collected All-East Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as a freshman in 2011, earns the second All-Region honor of her career with her selection to Daktronics' first team. Phillips is also being honored as an All-Region performer for the second time in her career after garnering AVCA accolades as a sophomore last fall.
Iverson was one of two student-athletes from Northeast-10 Conference institutions to earn a selection to the Daktronics first team, joining Adelphi University senior middle blocker Kaitlyn DeStefano. Stonehill's two selections overall were tied for the second most among all East Region schools, behind only the University of Bridgeport's three. Bridgeport graduate student outside hitter and setter Biljana Savic was named East Region Player of the Year.
Phillips and Iverson served as co-captains for a Stonehill squad that earned a share of its first regular season NE-10 title in program history en route to the second seed in the NE-10 Tournament. The Skyhawks (21-8, 11-3 NE-10) advanced to the semifinal round for the second consecutive season and fourth time in the last five years, before earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history.
Iverson ended the regular season ranked second in the conference in both total assists (1011) and assists per set (10.21) while running an offense that posted a .184 attack percentage, good for fifth in the NE-10. The Elmhurst, Illinois native also averaged 2.05 digs and 0.69 kills per frame to go with 39 service aces and 26 total blocks (two solo).
Iverson became Stonehill's all-time assists leader in a 3-1 win over Bridgeport on October 3rd, before surpassing the 4000-assist milestone a month later in a 3-2 triumph at Pace University on November 1st. She recorded nine double-doubles (10+ assists/10+ digs) this fall, and eclipsed the 50-assist mark in five matches. Iverson's career totals include 4246 assists (10.31/set), 902 digs (2.19/set), 257 kills (0.62/set), 96 service aces (0.23/set), and 94 total blocks (0.23/set) in 110 matches and 412 sets.
At the conclusion of the regular season, she was named the NE-10 Player and Setter of the Year, becoming the first Skyhawk in program history to earn the honor. Iverson garnered All-NE-10 honors all four years at Stonehill, including first team accolades as a freshman and senior.
Iverson capped her illustrious career with 26 assists, 11 digs, and two aces yesterday as third-seeded Stonehill fell to sixth-seeded LIU Post in the NCAA East Region quarterfinal.
She has also excelled in the classroom, earning NE-10 Honor Roll status on five occasions and Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognition four times. In addition, she collected a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award as a sophomore in 2012.
A 2011 graduate of York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, Iverson was a two-year varsity player, serving as team captain for her mother, head coach Patty Iverson. She was a two-time Academic All-Conference selection, earning All-Conference and All-Area honors as well.
Phillips, an NE-10 All-Conference first team selection in each of the last two seasons, collects the second All-East Region honor of her career and first from Daktronics after finishing the regular season with the fourth highest kill total (320) and kills per set average (3.30) in the NE-10. She also recorded 2.71 digs per frame to go with 26 total blocks (four solo) and 26 service aces.

Phillips turned in 13 double-double performances (10+ kills/10+digs) in 29 matches this season, including a 22-kill, 17-dig effort in Stonehill's 3-1 win over Southern New Hampshire University in the NE-10 Tournament quarterfinals. She also produced a career-high 25 kills in a 3-2 win over Le Moyne College on November 7th.
Phillips posted an impressive stretch of five consecutive double-doubles from 9/27-10/7, helping the Skyhawks to five wins as a part of their season-high seven-match winning streak. She hit .340 with 24 kills and 15 digs against Saint Michael's College on September 27th, before posting a .386 attack clip with 22 kills and 15 more digs in Stonehill's next match against Southern New Hampshire. Phillips capped the five-match tear on October 7th with 15 digs, 11 kills, and four block assists in a 3-2 win at Saint Anselm College.
Phillips enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore in 2013, earning All-NE-10 first team and AVCA All-East Region accolades after averaging 3.10 kills (3rd in NE-10) and 2.92 digs per frame. Through the end of her junior campaign, Phillips' career totals include 882 kills (2.97/set), 725 digs (2.44/set), 80 total blocks (16 solo- 0.27/set), 70 service aces (0.24/set), and 48 assists (0.16/set) with a .184 attack percentage.
In the classroom, she has been named to both the NE-10 and Athletic Director's Honor Rolls all four semesters at Stonehill.
A 2012 graduate of Smithtown East High School in St. James New York, Phillips was a four-year letterwinner and varsity starter for head coach Lauren Geldmacher. As a senior, she earned All-State second team honors and helped lead Smithtown East to a Long Island Championship and a third place finish in the state volleyball tournament.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II East Region schools and conferences selected the two Daktronics All-Region teams.
