VolleyBlog: Week 7

by Taylor Stevens

We started off our week with a team trip to Costco to replenish our food supplies and get a little team bonding in.  We enjoyed ourselves exploring all they had to offer including miniature ponies which Kelsey, Petey and Meg found quite entertaining.

On Tuesday we headed off to Bentley University for our second conference match of the season.  After dropping the first set, we came back to win the next three.  Bentley put up a good fight but they were no match for our new offense.

On Thursday night Meg and Mary planned a team activity to make s'mores.  We scavenged for wood and channeled our inner boy scout to make a fire to roast marshmallows over in the senior courts.  All the hard work paid off because they were absolutely delicious!

Friday brought our first home match of the season where we swept Post in three games, demonstrating just how well we can do when playing collectively as a team.  Energy was high and everyone did their job, setting the tone for a successful weekend.

Before our game on Saturday we were lucky enough to be able to catch some of our Women's Purple and White Soccer Game.  After watching for a little while we had to hurry back to the gym to begin our warmup as we prepared ourselves to play St. Michael's College.  After dropping the first set we fought back to grab another win against the Purple Knight's with a huge crowd there to cheer us on.  Family weekend brought many of our parents, friends, Stonehill faculty and staff and Mansfield and Stoughton High School volleyball teams out to support us.

After our game we headed out to the MacPhaidin Lot to tailgate for our home football game that began at six that night.  It was a gorgeous day to spend outside with our families eating good food, spending time together and playing backyard games.  We set up Corn Hole and Kan Jam for all to play and then headed over to see an exciting game where our football team beat Merrimack.

All in all it was a successful weekend for the Skyhawks!
