Manuszak Earns Second Consecutive NE-10 Rookie Of The Week Honor

Indianapolis, Ind. native averaged 5.08 digs per set this weekend at the Wildcat Regional Invitational

EASTON, Mass. (September 16, 2014) – Stonehill College freshman libero Claire Manuszak (Indianapolis, Indiana/Bishop Chatard) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, the league office announced today.

Manuszak helped lead Stonehill to a 3-0 weekend at the Wildcat Regional Invitational in Newark, Delaware, as she averaged 5.08 digs per set to go with four service aces and three assists. Manuszak was one of four Skyhawks to play in each of the team's 12 sets this weekend.

Stonehill opened the tournament on Friday with a five-set victory over Holy Family University, a match in which Manuszak paced the defense with a season-high 30 digs. The freshman again led the defensive effort with 18 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Dowling College, before wrapping up the weekend with 13 digs and two aces in a 3-1 victory over host Wilmington University on Saturday.

Manuszak earned her first NE-10 Rookie of the Week honor last Monday after averaging 4.31 digs per set as Stonehill opened its season with a 3-1 performance at the Millersville Marauder Clash.

Through the first seven matches of her collegiate career, Manuszak is averaging 4.68 digs per set, good for seventh in the NE-10. She has also registered seven assists and six aces while playing in each of Stonehill's 25 sets.

A 2014 graduate of Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, Manuszak was a member of Trojans teams that won the state volleyball championship in 2012 and posted a runner-up finish in 2011. Manuszak also earned Academic All-State honors as a senior at Bishop Chatard.

Stonehill (6-1, 0-0 NE-10) will look to continue its hot start to the season, as the Skyhawks travel to Springfield, Massachusetts tonight to take on American International College (2-6, 0-0 NE-10) in the NE-10 opener for both teams. Stonehill will the hit the road this weekend for matches at Dominican College on Friday night and LIU Post on Saturday afternoon.
