VolleyBlog: Preseason Week 2 (August 26, 2014)

by Emily Iverson

Flash forward from our last blog post to the eighth day of preseason.  Campus is bustling with the full student body all moved in, and as a team we have shifted our focus from improving individual skills to six-on-six drills and working together for a quick offense and scrappy defense.  It's been a lot of hard work in the gym, but we have done some fun things as a team as well.

Late last week, we hosted UMass Boston's volleyball team for a home scrimmage.  We played six sets, and got in a lot of good work with different lineups, trying out numerous possibilities for this season.  That night, we headed into Boston for a movie under the stars- with blankets, Chipotle for dinner, and a nearby playground, which of course a good number of us tested out (it was pretty epic).  Classes start on Wednesday, we have a home preseason tournament on Friday, and before we know it we will be at our first regular season game day.

It's a great time to be a part of the volleyball team, and we will be keeping our family and friends updated on our progress this fall with weekly blog posts, so stay tuned!
