Skyhawks drop third-straight contest on the road

Junior Sydney Maxey had six kills and nine digs versus Bentley.

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 30, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team fell to Bentley University in three-straight sets by scores of 22-25, 17-25 and 23-25 in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Tuesday night at the Dana Center.

Junior outside hitter Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) compiled six kills, nine digs, one assist and one service ace to lead the Skyhawks. Sophomore setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) posted 19 assists, three digs, three kills and one block assist while senior libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) notched a match-high 12 digs.

Junior defensive specialist Jessica Frankowski (Unionville, Conn./Farmington) chipped in from the backrow with 11 digs and one service ace.

Tatiana Froehlich (Newton/Newton North) paced the Falcons attack with a match-high nine kills, three digs and one block assist. Freshman setter Kyana Miller (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) facilitated the offense with 31 assists, five digs, three service aces, two kills and one block assist. Senior middle blocker Grace Connor (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos) added eight kills, tallied a .389 hitting percentage and had four block assists.

Bentley recorded a .175 hitting percentage, 39 kills, 34 assists, ten service aces, 45 digs and 13 blocks (one solo). The Skyhawks registered a .042 hitting percentage, 24 kills, 24 assists, five service aces, 49 digs and 14 blocks (two solo). The hosts collected double-digit kills in each set compiling a set-high 15 kills in the third set, the closet game of the match (25-23).

Stonehill (12-13, 6-7 NE-10) hosts the University of New Haven on Saturday, November 3 in Merkert Gymnasium at 1 p.m. on "Senior Day." The Skyhawks will honor their lone senior, Kelly, on Saturday afternoon. Bentley (10-17, 5-7 NE-10) welcomes American International College on Friday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m.
