Adelphi Sweeps Stonehill, 3-0

Skyhawks fall to 6-6 overall in NE-10 play

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (October 27, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team was dealt a 3-0 loss by Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Saturday afternoon at the Center for Recreation and Sports by scores of 16-25, 23-25 and 25-27.

Sophomore middle blocker Meaghan Lee (Hanover, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) led the attack with a match-high ten kills for a .400 hitting percentage, two digs and one block assist.

Freshman outside hitter Delia Phillips (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown East) had eight kills, six digs and one service ace. Junior right-side hitter Kirsten Arvidson (Andover, Mass./Andover) collected eight kills, two digs and two block assists.

Sophomore setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) dished out 34 assists and notched three digs while senior libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) registered a team-high 12 digs.

For the Panthers, senior outside hitter Chelsea Overholt (Centreville, Va./Flint Hill School) posted nine kills, eight digs, one assist and one service ace. Junior setter Katie Bryson (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) ran the offense with a match-high 35 assists, seven digs, four kills and one block assist. Seniors Emily Dorko (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Samantha Rico (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Vandermeulen) also contributed eight kills apiece.

Adelphi hit .319 on the afternoon recording 42 kills, 40 assists, three service aces, 42 digs and ten blocks (two solo). Stonehill tallied a .136 hitting percentage, 37 kills, 35 assists, three service aces, 37 digs and four blocks (zero solo).

The Skyhawks (12-12, 6-6 NE-10) travels to Bentley University on Tuesday, October 30 for a NE-10 matchup at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers (18-9, 9-1 NE-10) visits the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, October 31 for a non-conference tilt at 7 p.m.
