Iverson earns Rookie of the Year, All-Conference First Team and All-Rookie honors

EASTON, Mass. (November 9, 2011) – Four members of the Stonehill College women's volleyball team have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) as selected by the league's 16 head coaches, it was announced earlier today.
Freshman setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) has been named the NE-10 Rookie of the Year while also garnering All-Conference First Team honors and All-Rookie Team accolades as well. Joining Iverson on the NE-10's All-Conference First Team is sophomore outside hitter Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) who has earned her first career All-Conference postseason honor.
Junior libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) was selected to the All-Conference Second Team while teammate and sophomore right-side hitter Kirsten Arvidson (Andover, Mass./Andover) was chosen to the All-Conference Third Team, both first career honors.
Stonehill (27-5, 14-1 NE-10), who plays third-seeded Adelphi University in the NE-10 Tournament semifinal round on Friday, November 11 at home, establishes a new program record with four players being honored by the league office.
Iverson currently ranks 38th overall in all of NCAA Division II in assists per set at 10.46 this season and is fourth among all freshman setters in the country. Iverson is the only setter in the NE-10 to average over 10 assists per set. Iverson has posted 50 or more assists in six matches this fall and set her season high for assists on September 20 against Bridgeport with 64 helpers. Iverson also became the first setter in program history to record 1,000 assists during a season on October 25 against Bentley University recording 40 assists in a 3-0 sweep. Iverson only needed three assists entering the match.
Maxey, who collects her first All-Conference postseason honor, has led Stonehill all season offensively averaging 3.25 kills per set. Maxey currently ranks second in the NE-10 in total kills (354), third in kills per set, fifth in hitting percentage (.272) and ninth in digs per set (3.61). Maxey, an All-Rookie Team selection in 2010, has compiled 17 double-doubles this season, 21 matches with double-digit kills and 22 matches with 10 or more digs. Maxey also earned three NE-10 Player of the Week awards during the regular season.
Kelly picks up her first NE-10 All-Conference award for the Skyhawks after leading a back row that ranks first in the NE-10 in total digs at 1,959 and second in digs per set at 16.46. Kelly is third in the NE-10 in total digs and eighth in digs per set and currently ranks 16th overall in all of NCAA Division II in aces per set at 0.59. In the NE-10, Kelly is first in both aces per set and total aces. Kelly has recorded double-digit efforts in digs in 27 out of 32 matches and has played in every set this season for Stonehill.
Arvidson notches her first career honor ranking first on the team in blocks per set and second in total kills and kills per set. Arvidson is ninth overall in the NE-10 in total blocks and block assists and has posted double-digit kills in 16 matches so far this season. Arvidson also has record three or more total blocks in 14 matches.
Stonehill, undefeated in its last 15-straight home matches, will put its home winning streak on the line against Adelphi University in the NE-10 Semifinal round at Merkert Gymnasium at 5 p.m.
