EASTON, Mass. (October 25, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week by the league office, it was announced earlier today.

Through eight reporting periods, Iverson has collected 11 awards total – the most among any athlete in the conference – earning Rookie of the Week accolades seven weeks in a row (Sept. 13, Sept. 20, Sept. 27, Oct. 4, Oct. 11 and Oct. 18) in addition to her four Setter of the Week awards (Sept. 7, Sept. 20 and Oct. 25).

Iverson guided Stonehill's offense to a 3-0 week overall averaging 12.22 assists per set in nine sets played. Iverson posted match-highs in assists for all three Skyhawks' wins on the week compiling 110 assists total. The freshman also added 17 digs, three kills, two services, one block assist and is now just three assists shy of 1,000 for the season. Iverson's 997 assists this fall sets a new school record for assists in a season.

As of October 24, Iverson ranks 33rd overall among all NCAA Division II setters in the country – moving up seven spots from last week – and fourth among all freshman setters averaging 10.49 assists per set on the season.

In the NE-10, Iverson leads all setters with 997 assists total – 123 ahead of second place in the conference – and is the only player at the position to average double-figures in assists per set. Per set this season, Iverson ranks almost one assist better than second place in the conference (0.93).

Iverson has played in every set for Stonehill so far this season – 95 sets/26 matches – joining teammates Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) and Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) atop the NE-10 leaderboard for sets played this fall.

The freshman setter has also filled out the rest of the stat sheet compiling 55 kills, 27 service aces, 196 digs (2.08 per set), and 20 blocks (four solo).

The Skyhawks (23-3, 11-0 NE-10) hosts Bentley University (11-2, 6-5 NE-10) tonight in a NE-10 matchup starting at 7 p.m. at Merkert Gymnasium.
