Stonehill Volleyball To Host “Dig Pink” Matches To Raise Funds For Breast Cancer Research

EASTON, Mass. (October 18, 2011) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team will "Dig Pink" this weekend as they host a breast cancer research fundraiser during two home matches at Merkert Gymnasium. The event will take place at the Skyhawks' matches against Adelphi University on Friday at 7 p.m. and Pace University on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Contributions will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, established in 2004 to promote breast cancer awareness, education, and fundraising through volleyball.

Fans can contribute a flat donation or can enter a raffle to win mini-pink Molten volleyballs signed by the team. Two mini-pink Molten volleyballs will be raffled off at Friday's match and two at Saturday's match. Tickets for the raffle will be sold before and during matches.

The team will also be giving away pink ribbons and pink Silly Bandz, shaped like the breast cancer ribbon, as a symbol of support.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink to both matches in recognition of the event. The Skyhawks goal is to raise $500 dollars over the weekend to help the fight against breast cancer.

Donations can also be made directly through the Stonehill team page at http://www.side-out.org/application/ous/fundraising_page/2493. Fans should also check out the team's Facebook event http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=304772852871494.
