COLCHESTER, Vt. (September 24, 2011) – Senior outside hitter Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) notched her 1,000th career dig, finishing with 10 on the evening, and also added 10 kills to lead Stonehill College to a 3-0 triumph over Saint Michael's (11-4, 0-1 NE-10) by scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-19 in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action at Ross Sports Center.
Huselton currently has 1,003 digs in her career posting totals of 188, 348, 325 and 142 in 367 sets played (2.73/sets) over her four years at Stonehill. The senior captain also added two service aces and one block assist for the Skyhawks.
Sophomore outside hitter Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) led all players with 15 kills (.387 hitting percentage), two assists and nine digs. Classmate and right-side hitter Kirsten Arvidson (Andover, Mass./Andover) added six kills while freshman setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) dished out 40 assists, compiled four kills, one service ace and two digs.
Junior libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) notched a match-high in digs with 14 and also chipped in with two assists and two service aces.
For Saint Michael's, junior Tracy Peterka (Newport Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) had 11 kills to lead the Purple Knights while teammate Katie Walsh (North Kingstown, R.I./The Prout School) added nine kills, 11 digs and one block assist.
Stonehill (12-2, 2-0 NE-10) hosts Assumption College in NE-10 action on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m.
