Iverson Recognized By NE-10 For Third Straight Week

Freshman setter named Co-Rookie and Co-Setter of the Week

EASTON, Mass. (September 20, 2011) – Stonehill College freshman Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) Co-Rookie of the Week and Co-Setter of the Week by the league office, it was announced earlier today.

Only three weeks into the season, Iverson has garnered accolades from the NE-10 each week earning Setter of the Week honors on September 7 and Rookie of the Week honors on September 13.

In a 4-0 week for the Skyhawks, Iverson engineered the offense compiling 143 assists - 9.53 assists-per-set - 12 kills, 10 service aces, 43 digs, two block solos and one block assist.

Iverson dished out 54 assists for Stonehill in a 3-1 win over Molloy College on Friday night becoming the first setter since 2008 to have more than 53 assists in a four-set match and only the second setter to record 50 or more assists in a four-set match since Andrea Wirth (Mesa, Ariz./St. Mary's) who notched three-50 assist performances in 2008. Wirth's highest total that season was 53 against Franklin Pierce University in a 3-1 win on November 8.

Iverson has played in all 42 sets (12 matches) for the Skyhawks this season leading the team in assists (386) and assists per set (9.19) while ranking second in service aces with 19 total. The freshman setter also has 24 kills, 89 digs, two block solos and seven block assists.

Iverson shares both awards this week with freshman setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) of Bentley University.

Stonehill (11-1, 1-0 NE-10) travels to the University of Bridgeport tonight with a 10-match winning streak on the line in non-conference action at 7 p.m.
