Stonehill Extends Winning Streak To Eight-Straight Matches

Arvidson paces team with 20-kill performance

WALTHAM, Mass. (September 16, 2011) – The Stonehill College women's volleyball team pushed its winning streak to eight-straight matches with a 3-1 win over Molloy College by scores of 25-22, 25-18, 22-25 and 25-14 on Friday night at the Bentley University Invitational.

Sophomore outside hitter Kirsten Arvidcson (Andover, Mass./Andover) notched 20 kills for a .600 hitting percentage to lead the Skyhawks. Senior captain and outside hitter Laura Huselton (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) aided the offense with 12 kills for a .440 hitting percentage, one assist, three service aces, one block assist and 15 digs.

Freshman setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) dished out a match-high 54 assists.

Sophomore outside hitter Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) contributed 12 kills, one assist, one block assist and 12 digs while freshman middle blocker Meaghan Lee (Hanover, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) added 10 kills (.300 hitting percentage) and junior libero Erin Kelly (Tinley Park, Ill./Marist) chipped in with 15 digs.

For Molloy, Angelica Nicalek (Valley Stream, N.Y./Hewlett) tallied 12 kills to go along with five digs and one block solo. Deanna Miller (Seaford, N.Y./Nassau CC) had eight kills and one block assist.

As a team, Stonehill compiled 78 digs in the victory along with eight service aces, three block solos and six block assists.

The Skyhawks (9-1, 1-0 NE-10), who are off to their best start in their first ten matches since 2008 (8-2 overall), play Queens (N.Y.) College and Georgian Court University tomorrow in day two of the Bentley University Invitational at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.
