Skyhawk Duo Earns NE-10 Weekly Awards

Iverson and Maxey led Stonehill to a 4-0 weekend at West Chester Univ. RAM Fest

EASTON, Mass. (September 14, 2011) – Two members of the Stonehill College women's volleyball team have earned weekly awards from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10), it was announced yesterday. Freshman setter Emily Iverson (Elmhurst, Ill./York) was named the Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career and sophomore outside hitter Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas/Hutto) garnered her first Player of the Week award.

This past weekend at the West Chester University RAM Fest, Iverson streamlined the offense with 129 assists in 13 sets for an assists-per-set average of 9.9 and an average of 32 assists per match. The freshman setter also contributed seven kills, 16 digs, seven service aces and one block assist.

Iverson picks up her second award from the NE-10 in as many weeks earning Setter of the Week honors last Tuesday (September 7).

Maxey led Stonehill offensively to its 4-0 mark this past weekend compiling 39 kills, 33 digs, six service aces, one block solo, one block assist, and a hitting percentage of .423.

Maxey currently leads the Skyhawks in kills (86), kills-per-set (3.07), hitting percentage (.274), digs (121) and digs-per-set (4.32).

Last season, Maxey collected three NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors on September 13, September 27 and November 1 for Stonehill.

The Skyhawks (8-1, 1-0 NE-10) finish out the week on the road as they travel to Bentley University to take on Molloy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16 and Queens (N.Y.) at 1 p.m. and Georgian Court at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 in the Bentley Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
