KINGSVILLE, Texas (May 24, 2019) – Stonehill College junior Madison Ward turned in a 13th place finish in the women's high jump at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Texas A&M University-Kingsville, at Javelina Stadium this evening.

Ward, who provisionally qualified for the NCAA II Indoor Championships in March, made her nationals debut by earning entry to the Outdoor Championships. After qualifying with a school-record and NE10 Championship winning height of 5-feet, 7.75-inches, she came into the Outdoor Championships as the 14th-seed out of 22 entries.

Ward would finish 13th on the evening by clearing a height of 5-feet, 4.50-inches on her first attempt. The bar moved up to 5-06.50 for the second progression and she joined eight others in missing on all three attempts at the height. Tiffin University freshman Marisa Gwinner won the event title by clearing 5-feet, 8-inches, edging out Bellarmine University senior Yashira Rhymer-Stuart on attempts.

Stonehill wraps up its 2018-19 season having swept the Northeast-10 Conference indoor and outdoor track & field championships for the fourth-straight year. Ward gives the women's program an NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier for the sixth-straight year.
