EASTON, Massachusetts (April 27, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team placed fourth out of 12 teams at the 12th Annual Skyhawk Invitational, hosted by the Skyhawks at W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday.
The University of Rhode Island won the meet with 151.50 points, while Holy Cross placed second with 128.50 points and Boston College was third with 125 points. Stonehill totaled 117.50 points for fourth place, as Southern New Hampshire University rounded out the top five with 60 points.
The Skyhawks saw three first-place titles and 15 top five finishes, led by senior Olivia Dexter with two titles in the 100-meter out of 39 competitors and 200-meter dashes out of 32 competitors. She clocked in a time of 12.16-seconds in the 100-meter, while she ran 25.21-seconds in the 200-meter run.
The 4x800-meter relay team, including Alyssa Freeman, Anna Lastra, Adrienne Santoro, and Kelly Higgins also finished first with a time of 9:43.55.
Two Skyhawks saw runner-up marks, including Madison Ward in the high jump as she cleared a height of 5 feet, 5 inches out of 18 competitors. Jessydoris Iwuala rounded out the top five in the event with her clearance of a personal best height of 5 feet, 3 inches taking home fifth.
Junior Ashley Colarusso was the runner up in the pole vault out of 10 competitors, as she followed the winner from Holy Cross. Colarusso cleared a mark of 11 feet, 1.75 inches, while sophomore Alexandra Sexton finished fourth as she lifted herself over a height of 10 feet, 2 inches.
Junior Shayla Lyons was .75-inches away from tying the school record in the shot put with her personal best mark of 43 feet, 2.25 inches, taking home fourth out of 31 competitors. She also finished fourth in the discus throw with a distance of 129 feet. In the discus, the Skyhawks saw Krista Stracqualursi take fifth and Jesica Litwa take home sixth totally 12 points. Stracqualursi marked a distance of 125 feet, 7 inches, as Litwa reached a mark of 125 feet, 5 inches.

Litwa also competed in the hammer throw with a measurement of 139 feet, 7 inches finishing eighth, for the final point, out of 20 competitors. Stracqualursi also finished eighth but in the shot put with a toss of 38 feet, 10.25 inches.
Out of the Skyhawks' 12 competitors in the 1500-meter run, four of them earned points towards the teams' total score. Lastra led the way with a time of 4:44.32 finishing third, while Freeman followed her in fourth with a personal best time of 4:46.97. Sophomore Jillian Howard clocked in a time of 4:52.74, good for six, as classmate Sophia Anderle placed seventh with a time of 4:53.34.
Junior Claire Hurtado led the way for the Skyhawks in the 400-meter dash as she finished fifth with a time of 59.92-seconds, earning points for the Purple & White's team total.
Classmate Zoe Smithwas fourth out of 31 competitors in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.83-seconds. Freshman Abigail Creamer was the next Skyhawk across the finish line with a personal best time of 15.50-seconds, finishing sixth overall, while Krista Fernandes placed seventh with a time of 15.50-seconds. The senior also picked up points for the team in the 400-meter hurdles clocking in at 1:05.81, good for sixth place.
Stonehill is back in action next Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at the Penmen Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire, hosted by Southern New Hampshire University.
