EASTON, Mass. (April 3, 2019) – The Stonehill College's women's track and field freshman Krista Stracqualursi (Tewksbury, Massachusetts/Tewksbury) was named Northeast-10 Conference Field Rookie of the Week, as announced by the organization on Wednesday.

The freshman competed in two events at the UMass Lowell Invitational on Saturday, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell, including the discus and shot put throws.

Stracqualursi finished fourth out of 14 competitors in the discus throw with a mark of 128 feet. She was the second Skyhawk to place in the event behind Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo), as the first two non-Division I competitors. The freshman threw farther each time she entered the circle as she tossed her best mark on her fourth throw and saw her first qualifying mark in her career for New England's.

She also competed in shot put, where she placed eighth out of 12 competitors. On her first throw she tossed her best throw of the day with a mark of 37 feet, 10 inches finishing behind teammate Elizabeth Balzarini (Dedham, Massachusetts/Dedham) who placed seventh.

Stonehill will travel to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete in at the Colonial Relays from Thursday, April 4 to Saturday April 6 at the Walter J. Zable Stadium, hosted by the College of William & Mary.
