Women’s Track & Field Sent Four to BU Last Chance Meet

Dexter hit NCAA provisional times in two events this season


Colarusso took home second of 11, as she was 0.50 inches off her personal best

BOSTON, Massachusetts (February 24, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team sent four individuals to the BU Last Chance Invitational, hosted by Boston University,  Sunday for individuals to better their NCAA Division II qualifying marks before the NCAA Division II performance lists come out for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.

In heat two of the preliminary round, Olivia Dexter finished second and fourth overall 15 competitors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.69-seconds qualifying for finals. She then went on to finish third in finals with a time of 7.64-seconds. The senior currently sits 30th on the NCAA Division II performance list with her career best and school record time of 7.62-seconds.

Zoe Smith qualified for the 60-meter hurdles final with her preliminary time of 9.11-seconds. She finished third in her heat, placing fifth out of 15 competitors. Smith then clocked in a time of 9.14-seconds, earning her fifth in finals of the hurdles event.

Ashley Colarusso finished second out of 11 competitors in the pole vault. The junior cleared a height 11 feet, 0.25 inches, 0.50 inches off her personal best, while two others tied with Colarusso through all of the jumps. They then held a jump-off between the three competitors, where Colarusso placed second clearing a height of 11 feet, 4.22 inches.

Madison Ward placed fourth out of eight competitors, as she cleared a height of 5 feet, 3.75 inches. The junior is 31st on the NCAA Division II performance list with her career best and school record mark of 5 feet, 5.75 inches.

Stonehill now awaits any accepted athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas at the Robert W. Plaster Center, hosted by Pittsburg State University from Friday, March 8 – Saturday, March 9.
