EASTON, Mass. (February 14, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team will compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, February 16 to Sunday, February 17, hosted by American International College at Smith College Indoor Track Facility in Northampton, Massachusetts.
The women are currently ranked No. 1 in this week's U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II East Regional Computer Rankings and 88th in the Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index.
The women were selected by the NE10's 12 coaches to take first place recording 121 points and 11 first-place tallies. Southern Connecticut State University was voted second with 106 points and one first-place tally, as Assumption College rounded out the top three with 100 points. Franklin Pierce University was voted fourth with 85 points and American International College rounded out the top five with 75 points.
The women captured its fifth-straight NE10 Indoor Track and Field title last season with 15 All-Conference performances.
This season, the women's squad has seen three NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks. Senior Olivia Dexter currently sits 22nd on the performance list for the 60-meter dash with a career best and school record time of 7.63-seconds. Her time places her second on the NE10 performance list. Junior high jumper Madison Ward ranks 26th on the NCAA Division II performance list with her career best and school record mark of 5 feet, 5.75 inches, also ranking her third on the NE10 performance list.
The quartet of seniors Jillian Caiazzi and Krista Fernandes, and juniors Anna Lastra and Alyssa Freeman clocked in a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships combining for a time of 11:58.46. This time places them 16th on the NCAA Division II list and first on the NE10 performance list.
Dexter looks to top last years' performance as she finished third in the 200-meter run, ninth in the 60-meter dash, and 18th in the long jump. The senior clocked in a career best and school record time also in the 200-meter dash this year with a time of 24.96-seconds, which places her third on the NE10 performance list. Her long jump distance of 18 feet, 0.5 inches ranks sixth among the Conference.
Fernandes will also look to best her individual 400-meter time, after an All-Conference performance last year. This season she is ranked seventh in the NE10 with a time of 57.63-seconds. Classmate Caiazzi leads the way in the 800-meter run with a season best time of 2:14.51, which she ran last weekend. Freeman is also in the top-10 of the NE10 performance list with her time of 2:20.43 in the event.
Nine Skyhawk women, are ranked in the mile run, including Lastra, who leads the way with a time of 5:08.27. Caiazzi follows right behind with a time of 5:10.11, and Jillian Howard and Sophia Anderle are ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 in the mile run is senior Makenzie Cyr with her time of 5:15.69, who is ranked 10th in the Conference.
In the 3000-meter run, Lastra is also ranked in the top-10, with her second-place mark and time of 10:17.46. Anderle once again follows the junior, this time in fourth place with her time of 10:30.67. Freshman Siobhan O'Keefe looks to make her first appearance at a NE10 Track & Field Championship as she is ranked ninth on the NE10 performance list.
Once again, there is a handful of Skyhawks in the 5000-meter run placed in the top-10 including, Cyr in second, Anderle in third, Isabel Baker in seventh, Jackie Cutillo in eighth, and Jordan Callahan in ninth.

Junior Zoe Smith, who finished fifth in last years' championship in the 60-meter hurdles has seen a career-best time of 9.08-seconds a few times this season and sits fourth on the NE10 performance list. Sophomore Casey Gannon will also look to best her ninth-place performance last year as she follows Smith in fifth place with her time of 9.20-seconds. Freshman Savanna Macaluso will also make her first appearance in a NE10 Championship, as she is ranked eighth in the event with her time of 9.36-seconds.
Senior Colleen Perry earned her first-career All-Conference honor with a second place finish in the pentathlon and broke the previous school record at the NE10 Championship last year totaling 3,073 points. This season she is ranked sixth with 2,794 points.
Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay team is ranked first among the Conference with a time of 9:30.47, while the 4x400-meter relay team is ranked fifth with a time of 4:02.46.
Last year, Stonehill saw senior Ashley Daggett earn All-Conference honors with a third-place finish, while the Skyhawks also placed in fourth, fifth, and sixth place to earn points for the team. With Ward sitting in third, Stonehill also has Jessydoris Iwuala and Kathleen Giusti in seventh, Daggett in ninth, Callie Lindsey in ninth, and Courtney Daggett in 12th.
Stonehill's trio of pole vaulters took home first, second, and third place last season, and continue to aim for the top as Alexandra Sexton is tied for first with her career-best height of 11 feet, 1.75 inches. Junior Ashley Colarusso follows the sophomore with a mark of 10 feet, 11.75 inches, good for third place in the Conference.
Shayla Lyons just missed out on an All-Conference honor in the shot put with a fourth-place tally. Currently, she is ranked third in the NE10, as Elizabeth Balzarini sits seventh in the Conference. Lyons is also in the top-10 in the weight throw.
Following the NE10 Championships, Stonehill will compete at the BU Last Chance Meet at the BU Track & Tennis Center, hosted by Boston University on Sunday, February 24, before sending those that qualified to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, hosted by Pittsburg State University.
