Women’s Track & Field Sends Four to John Thomas Terrier Invitational

One school record, two qualify for New England Championship, and two clock in fastest time in NE10


Dexter broke her previous school record in the 200-meter sprint, finished fifth overall and puts her 10th on the New England performance list

BOSTON, Massachusetts (January 25, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team saw four Skyhawks compete at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Friday, January 25, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Senior Olivia Dexter finished first in her heat with a time of 24.96-seconds in the 200-meter sprint, taking home fifth-place overall out of 157 competitors. She was one of five competitors to break 25-seconds at BU, where she broke her own school record. This time puts her 10th on the New England Championship performance list and it is currently the third fastest time in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Senior Krista Fernandes placed 35th out of 113 competitors with a time of 58.28-seconds in the 400-meter dash. This time puts her 33rd on the New England performance list and it is currently the fifth fastest time in the NE10.

Senior Jillian Caiazzi clocked in the fastest time in the NE10 thus far in the 800-meter run. Caiazzi placed fourth in her heat with a time of 2:14.54 and 24th overall out of 120 competitors. This time qualifies her for the New England Championship and puts her 23rd on the performance list.

Junior Anna Lastra placed seventh in her heat in the mile, clocking in a time of 5:08.27. Her time placed her 41st out of 107 competitors and puts her at the top of the NE10 performance list with the fastest time thus far.

Stonehill returns to the track tomorrow as they compete in the Branwen Smith-King Invitational, hosted by Tufts University, at the Gantcher Athletic Center in Medford, Massachusetts.
