Perry breaks own school record in pentathlon

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (February 17, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's track and field sit atop the conference after day one of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with 59 points with six events scored.
Junior Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth) kicked off the day breaking her own school record for the second time this year in the pentathlon totaling 3,073 points, taking home second place and her first All-Conference honor. She finished third in the high jump (5 feet, 1 inch), third in the 800-meter run (2:33.65), fifth in the long jump (15 feet, 8.75 inches), sixth in the 60-meter dash (9.81), and seventh in the shot put (31 feet, 1.75 inches).
All three Skyhawk pole vaulters swept the event, as Alison Tobin (Hudson, Masschusetts/Hudson) took home first, Ashley Colarusso (Tewksbury, Massachusetts/Tewksbury Memorial) placed second, and Alexandra Sexton (Los Gatos, California/Los Gatos) finished in third. Tobin cleared a height of 11 feet, 4.50 inches for her first-career All-Conference honor. Colarusso earned her second-career All-Conference accolade with a mark of 11 feet, .75 inches, and Sexton competed in her first NE10 Championship finishing with a height of 10 feet, 6.75 inches.
Tobin also competed in the long jump, tallying two points for the Skyhawks as she placed seventh with a height of 17 feet, 11.00 inches. Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) hit a mark of 16 feet, 6 inches, finishing 18th.
The distance medley relay took home first place and at least Stonehill's eighth-straight All-Conference honor in the event with a time of 11:57.71 with the quartet of Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy), Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy), Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough), and Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan). Lastra ran the 1200-meter opening leg with a split of 3:41.42, while Fernandes ran a 59.03 400-meter leg. Caiazzi took the third 800-meter leg with a time of 2:15.68, while Hannon clocked in at 5:01.60 for the mile leg.
Dexter also competed in the 200-meter prelims where she qualified for finals with a time of 25.64, good for fourth overall, which will take place tomorrow. She just shyly missed out on the 60-meter sprint finals with a ninth-place finish and a time of 7.88.

Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) just missed qualifying for finals with her time of 26.11, finishing ninth.
Zoe Smith (Rochester, Massachusetts/Old Rochester Regional), competing in her second NE10 Indoor Championship, qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals, finishing sixth with a time of 9.42. Casey Gannon (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) clocked in at 9.35, just missing out on finals with a ninth-place finish.
Stonehill saw four Skyhawks register points in the 5000-meter run, including Makenzie Cyr (Douglas, Massachusetts/Douglas), Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy), Jackie Cutillo (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan), and Isabel Baker (Charlestown, Rhode Island/Chariho). Cyr led the team, finishing in third with a time of 17:53.35, while Knox was the second Skyhawk across the finish with a time of 18:10.09, good for fifth. Cutillo and Baker fell behind Knox taking home sixth (18:25.05) and seventh (18:25.81), respectively. Freshman Samantha Curtin (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) finished the race with a personal best time of 18:46.21, good for 10th.
Julianne Holbrook (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) finished 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 46 feet, 8.75 inches, while Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) threw a distance of 41 feet, 10.50 inches, good for 16th.
Day two of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships will continue tomorrow, Sunday, February 18 at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
