Northeast 10 Indoor Track and Field Report: Week 5 

EASTON, Mass. (January 30, 2018) – Stonehill College's women's track and field 4x800-meter relay team received Northeast-10 Conference honors this week, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

The quartet of Kelly Higgins (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth), Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica Memorial), Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough), and Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) were tabbed NE10 Relay Team of the Week for the second time this season after taking home first in the 4x800-meter relay at the Inaugural Branwen King-Smith Invitational, hosted by Tufts University. The team posted a time of 9:38.39, 14 seconds faster than the Tufts team who placed second. Higgins led the relay in the first leg with a time of 2:24.8 and handed off the baton to Freeman, who finished the two laps in 2:24.8, as well. Caiazzi followed in the third leg with a time of 2:25.2 and Hannon gained some ground with her 2:22.5 split as the anchor leg.

The quartet is currently ranked first in the Conference, while also seeing the top-10 in New England's with a ninth-place mark behind eight Division I programs.  

Caiazzi also competed in the 800-meter run taking home the title and crossing the line at 2:20.72. Hannon competed in the mile this weekend, taking home second place with a personal best time of 5:09.23, as Higgins followed the junior clocking in at her personal best time of 5:11.64 and Freeman finished close behind with a sixth-place mark and a personal best time of 5:15.87.

Stonehill returns to action this weekend, with its first championship meet of the season, when it competes at the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Dorchester, Massachusetts on Friday and Saturday.
