Borofski Earns Eighth All-America Honor, Stonehill Women Ranked 18th in Program of the Year Standings

EASTON, Mass. (March 15, 2017) – Women's track and field senior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) was recognized for her eighth-career All-America honor. The Stonehill College women's track and field and cross country program is also ranked 18th overall in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Program of the Year Standings, both announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Borofski's eight All-America honors are the most by a Stonehill women student-athlete

Borofski earned her eighth-career All-America honor with a seventh-place finish in in the one-mile run at the 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships Festival, hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville and the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The senior surpassed her own school record finishing with a time of 4:47.21, topping her previous personal best of 4:49.71, which she registered at the New England Championships where she won her sixth title. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native had run the mile three days in a row at the festival, qualifying for the finals with a ninth-place time of 4:50.22 on Thursday and then running the mile anchor for the DMR, which finished 13th overall with a time of 11:46.65.

Borofski has now earned All-America honors four times at the NCAA Indoor Championships to go along with a pair of cross country honors and two outdoor accolades in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Her eight All-America awards are the most by a Stonehill women's student-athlete in program history and matches the total Corey Thomas '13 earned over his record-breaking career at Stonehill. Of Borofski's eight accolades, five are first team honors, including this years' indoor mile run.

The Stonehill College women's cross country and track and field program is currently ranked 18th in the 2017 NCAA Division II Program of the Year standings concluding the indoor season. Leading the pack is Adams State and Grand Valley State which flip flopped team finishes in the cross country and indoor track and field season. Adams State won the indoor title and placed second during cross country season, while Grand Valley State earned the crown during the cross country season and took second in the indoor season. Both programs are tied for first with three program of the year points.

Stonehill ranks 18th, finishing 22nd at the NCAA Cross Country Championship and 49th at the NCAA Indoor Championship, recording 73.5 program of the year points. The Skyhawks are also the only program in the top-18 from the Northeast-10 Conference.

Stonehill's finale at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships concludes two-thirds of the year of competition, where the women's track and field program captured its fourth-straight NE10 Championship and placed ninth at the New England Championships. The Skyhawks will open their outdoor season on Saturday, March 25, at the UMass Lowell Spring Invitational at 11 a.m.
