12 Stonehill Women Combine to Earn 17 All-Region Honors

EASTON, Mass. (March 1, 2017) – Twelve members of the Stonehill College women's track and field program have earned a combined 17 All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The awards recognize each region's top five performers in individual events and top three teams in relay events.

Half of the women who earned All-Region honors this year were recognized by USTFCCCA for the first time, while the other half tallied their third or higher All-Region accolade.

Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth) leads the pack earning her 20th honor during this indoor season, which included running in the mile, 3000-meter run and the distance medley relay. The senior' All-Region performances came at the New England Championships when she posted a time of 4:49.71 in the mile and 11:39.41 in the distance medley relay. She also posted a time of 9:47.59 in the 3000-meter run for her fourth All-Region honor in her senior year. Borofski last earned the honor in this years' women's cross country NCAA regional as she won her second-straight title.

Classmate Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) has also totaled her All-Region honors to 14 this year after assisting the DMR to its second-straight title at the New England Championships. McAdams last earned the accolade in this past season of cross country, where she finished 16th in the regional event.

Emily Knox (Worcester, Massachusetts/Notre Dame Academy) tallied her fourth All-East Region mark as she posted a time of 17:54.20 in the 5000-meter run at the Tufts Stampede. The junior has also earned the honor in the 2016 indoor season in the 5000m and the 2015 and 2014 cross country seasons.

Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) posted a school record in the high jump at the URI Sorlein Invitational tallying her third All-East Region honor with a height of 5 feet, 5.25 inches. The sophomore also earned the award during her freshman year, also in the high jump during indoor and outdoor season.

Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) marked her personal best in the shot put this year at the NE10 Championships with a distance of 41 feet, 9.75 inches earning third place. This year will be her third accolade, as she was named to the team in the 2016 indoor and the 2015 outdoor seasons.

Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) is the final Skyhawk to have earned the honor multiple times, as she has picked up her second and third awards this season in the 3000-meter run and the DMR. The freshman marked a personal best at the BU Valentine Invitational meet in the 3000m clocking in at 10:04.55. She also was part of the DMR that placed first at the New England Championships this year. Previously, Lastra picked up her first All-Region honor during the cross country season when she placed 13th at the NCAA Regional Championship.

Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, New York/Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo), in her first season as a Skyhawk tallied a personal best and new school record in the shot put at the URI Coaches Invitational with a distance of 43 feet, 3.75 inches.

Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union 32) now holds two individual Skyhawk records, including her 7.72 indoor 60-meter dash time that she tabbed this year at the NE10 Championships. This and her 18 feet, 5.25 inches long jump from this years' NE10 Championship, a personal best, gave her her first and second All-East Region nods.

Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle and Cassidy) also earned her first and second All-East Region honor this year. The sophomore clocked a personal best time in the 400-meter race with a time of 57.13 at the BU Valentine Invitational. She also was part of the DMR that posted a time of 11:39.41 at the New England Championships. 

Classmate Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marborough) received her first All-East accolade in the 800-meter race at the New England Championships clocking in at 2:16.34, a personal best for her.

Ashley Colarusso (Tewksbury, Massachusetts/Tewskbury) tied the school record for indoor pole vaulting with a mark of 10 feet, 6 inches at the Beantown Challenge and the NE10 Championships this season. She finished ninth at the Beantown Challenge and third at NE10s for her personal best mark, earning her first All-East Region honor.

Madison Ward (Holliston, Massachusetts/Holliston) finished the Beantown Challenge with a height of 5 feet, 5 inches, a personal best mark and her first All-East Region honor.

The Stonehill women will cap its indoor season on March 10-12 when its qualified individuals will compete at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships held at the CrossPlex Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
