Borofski named NE10 Most Outstanding Female Track Athlete, Women earn fourth indoor title in program history

BOSTON, Mass. (FEBRUARY 18, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's indoor track and field team, ranked second in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Regional captured its fourth-straight Northeast-10 Indoor Conference Championship, Saturday night at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

Borofski earns two titles, and named most valuable women's track athlete.

Stonehill scored 151 points to earn its fourth-straight conference championship in dominating fashion, as Southern Connecticut State University finished second with 135 points. Adelphi University came in third with 89 points, while American International College and University of New Haven rounded out the top five tallying 75.5 and 66.5 points, respectively.

The women also earned three individual titles, including senior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) tallying two from the mile and from the 3000-meter run. The senior was also named the NE10 Most Outstanding Women's Track Athlete after securing her third mile crown and her second 3000m title. With her time of 4:51.00 in the mile, she set a new NE10 Championship time that she set in 2015 (4:54.66). Borofski also posted a time of 9:53.96 in the 3000m race, which she also broke the NE10 meet record, which was set by Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, R.I./ North Kingstown) in 2015 (10:02.39).

The Skyhawks also won the programs' sixth-straight 4x800m relay title and tenth in 12 years. Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) ran the first leg with a time of 2:23.1, before handing the baton off to Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) for her 2:27.2 portion. Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Mass./Fryeburg Academy) was the third leg, as she ran it in 2:25.4 dishing it off to McAdams to tie up the relay with a split of 2:28.4 for a total time of 9:44.45.

In total, the Skyhawks won six All-Conference honors including Borofski's two in the mile and the 3000m, one for the 4x800m, one for the distance medley relay and Lastra earned two accolades, as well.

Stonehill finished in second in the distance medley relay, where McAdams kicked off the 1200-meter opening leg with a split of 3:47.5 and then handed the baton off to Claire Hurtado (Newington, Conn./Northwest Catholic) ran a 1:00.1 400-meter split for the second leg. Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) was next in line as she ran a 2:23.2 800-meter leg, and Danika Wayss (Warwick, R.I./Pilgrim) wrapped up the relay with a 5:20.2 mile split, for a combined for a 12:31.18 time.

Lastra finished second in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:00.55, crossing the finish line as the second freshman. She also followed behind Borofski in the mile event, as she clocked in with a time of 5:02.73. 

The 4x400m relay finished fourth with a time of 4:03.69, where Hurtado, Bobinski, Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) and Fernandes secured five points for the Skyhawks.

4x800m captured its sixth-straight title

McAdams followed closely to Lastra as both Skyhawks recorded matching times in the 1000-meter run. Freeman secured sixth with a time of 3:03.25 in the 1000-meter race.

Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vt.) finished third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.72. She also clocked in at 25.48, good for fourth in the 200-meter run. In her third event of the day, the long jump, Dexter reached a distance of 5.62m (18ft, 5.25inch) placing her third among 25 competitors.

Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) recorded an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash clocking in at 25.99 and tallying a point for Stonehill. The senior also finished 12^th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.08.

Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Mass./Coyle and Cassidy) finished fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 57.14, good for five points towards the team score. Megan Bobinski (Torrington, Conn./Holy Cross) also finished fourth with a personal best time of 1:17.44 in the 500-meter run.

Caiazzi placed third in the 800m dash, while Wayss finished ninth. Caiazzi clocked in at 2:20.93, as Wayss crossed the line at a personal best time of 2:27.02.

Buonfiglio also ran in the mile run as she finished sixth, tallying three points for the Skyhawks, clocking in with a time of 5:19.42. Jordan Callahan (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) crossed the line as the second freshman to clock in with a time of 10:40.11

Dexter earns two third place results and one fourth place

Azariah Boyd (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) finished seventh in 60-meter hurdles finals event with a time of 9.27, and 9.22 in preliminaries.

Mackenzie Cyr (Douglas, Mass./Douglas) placed fourth as the only sophomore in the top six of the 5000-metere run, clocking in at a personal best time of 17.59.09. Emily Knox (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) followed close behind with a time of 18:13.98. Isabel Baker (Charlestown, R.I./Chariho) was still able to secure points towards their final score with the help a sixth place student-athlete, clocking in at personal best time of 18:44.49.

In the field, Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) finished fourth with a height of 1.57m (5ft, 1.75 inch) In the high jump, as her sister Ashley Daggett (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) and Madison Ward (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) also placed for the Skyhawks. Ward finished sixth the same distance as Courtney and a new personal best, while Ashley earned eighth with the same height as the other two.

Ashley Colarusso (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury) also recorded points for the Skyhawks as she recorded a third-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.20m (10ft, 6inch) matching her personal best. Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Mass./Narragansett) meant business walking into the arena as she hit a personal best mark of 12.74m (41ft, 9.75 inch) in the shotput. Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, N.Y./Bishiop Magin/Berne-Knox Westerlo) performed in her first championship as she finished fourth in the shot put, as the second freshman on the board with a distance of 12.53m (41ft, 1.5inch). Margaret Lepley (Lynn, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) recorded eighth among 28, as she registered a mark of 14.07m (46.3inch) in the weight throw.

Hannah Ameen (Andover, Mass./Andover) finished 17^th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.19.

Emily Polvere (Somers, N.Y./Somers) secured points for Stonehill with a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter race with a time of 25.93.

Anna DeVitto (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) finished ninth in the 1000-meter run with a personal best time of 3:11.79.

Abby Hersom (Rockland, Maine/Ocenside) finished in eighth in conference in the 5000-meter race with a time for 18:46.96.

Jesica Litwa (Seymout, Mass./Seymouhr) tallied a 10^th-place finish in the weight throw as she reached a distance of 13.68m (44ft, 10.75 inch).
