Courtney Daggett earns NCAA provisional in high jump, Dexter places second in 60 meter and 200
KINGSTON, R.I. (January 21, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team recorded a second-place finish at the URI Sorlein Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island at the Mackal Field Hose on Saturday, January 21.
The Rhode Island women finished first with 181 points, as Stonehill claimed second with 88.50 points. Southern Connecticut State University took third place with 85 points, as Quinnipiac University and Providence College placed fourth (77.50 points) and fifth (64 points), respectively.

Sophomore Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vt./Union 32) finished second in the 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 7.75 after also taking second with a time of 7.78 in preliminaries, hitting both Northeast-10 and New England standards. Dexter also finished second in the 200-meter race with a time of 25.66 marking NE10 and New England qualifications.
Sophomore Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) competed in the high jump reaching the NCAA provisional mark with a height of 5 feet, 5.25 inches taking third and matching her personal best. Freshman Madison Ward (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) followed Daggett, finishing fourth with a mark of 5 feet, 3.25 inches
Emily Polvere (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) and Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) both reached NE10 standards in the 200 meters with times of 26.50 and 26.78, respectively.
Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Mass./Coyle & Cassidy) also made NE10 and New England qualifications with her personal best time of 58.74 in the 400-meter sprint placing first among runners.
In the mile, freshman Danika Wayss (Warwick, R.I./Pilgrim) recorded her first indoor time and was the only Skyhawk to finish in the top 10 with a time of 5:21.41, good for the NE10 standard.
Freshman Anna Lastra (Bridgton, Maine, Fryeburg Academy) led the way for the Skyhawks in the 3000-meter run with a second-place finish and a time of 10:15.94, hitting the NE10 and New England standards.
Junior Azariah Boyd (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) surpassed the qualifying times for NE10 and New Englands in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best mark of 9.20, finishing seventh in finals.
Freshman Ashley Colarusso (Tewksbury, Mass./Tewksbury Memorial) hit 10 feet, 2 inches in the pole vault for a third-place mark, hitting the NE10 standard.
All weight throwers, including Magaret Lepley (Lynn, Mass./Bishop Fenwick), Jesica Litwa (Seymour, Mass./Seymour) and Julianne Holbrook (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) qualified for NE10s in the weight throw. Lepley placed sixth with a throw of 43 feet, 10.75 inches, Litwa finished seventh hitting a personal best 42 feet, 8.75 inches, and Holbrook finished 12th measuring 39 feet, 1 inch.
Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Mass./Narragansett Regional), Shayla Lyons (Westerlo, N.Y./Bishop Maginn/Berne-Knox Westerlo) and Elizabeth Balzarini (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) all bypassed the NE10 qualification in the shot put. Farrell threw for 39 feet, 0.25 inches, good for second, Lyons hit 38 feet, 6.25 inches, good for third, and Balzarini threw 34 feet, 1.50 inches, good for ninth.
Other Stonehill performances:
Finley-Moise and Polvere clocked in an 8.15 and 8.28 in the 60-meter dash for ninth and 12th in the preliminary round.
Boyd clocked in at a personal best time of 26.90, good for 13th in the 200-meter race, while and Olivia Libby (Dayton, Maine/Thorton Academy) finished with a time of 29.36 for a 20th-place mark.
Megan Bobinski (Torrington, Conn./Holy Cross) recorded a personal best time of 1:01.29 in the 400-meter sprint, good for fifth, while Claire Hurtado (Newington, Conn./Northwest Catholic) crossed the line close behind with a time of 1:02.56 finishing seventh. Both topped the NE10 standard.
In the 800 meters, Anna DeVitto (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke) raced to a seventh-place mark with a time of 2:31.15.

Jordan Callahan (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) finished close behind Wayss with a time of 5:23.25 in the mile run, good for 12th place and making NE10 time. Jackie Cutillo (Foxboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) also hit the NE10 time finishing 14th with a time of 5:27.59, as Isabel Baker (Charlestown, R.I./Chariho) crossed the finish behind Cutillo with a personal best 5:31.17 time.
Freshman Alyssa Freeman (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) clocked in at 11:05.95, while Taylor Landers (North Andover, Mass./Pingree School) finished with a personal best time of 11:11.90, good for fifth and sixth in the 3000-meter run.
The 4x400-meter relay team made up of Bobinski, Hurtado, Fernandes and Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) finished third with a time of 4:07.31.
Ashley Daggett (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) reached four feet, 11.50 inches in the high jump, good for sixth, as Vieira hit a personal best mark of four feet, 9.50 feet, good for ninth.
Ward also extended to 34 feet, 6.25 inches in the triple jump, claiming third, while Vieira fell right behind reaching a personal best 33 feet, 3.25 inches.
Stonehill splits up between the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Friday, January 27, hosted by Boston University, and the Tufts Stampede on Saturday, January 28, hosted by Tufts University.
