Dexter Named NE-10 Track Rookie of the Year

NE-10 Announces 2016 Outdoor Track & Field Award Winners

EASTON, Mass. (June 15, 2016) – Stonehill College freshman sprinter Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/Union-32) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Women's Outdoor Track Rookie of the Year, as selected by the league's 12 head coaches.

Dexter is the first Stonehill student-athlete to earn women's Rookie of the Year accolades for outdoor track & field since Kelly Chaisson '07 was selected as the NE-10's Co-Freshman of the Year in 2004. Dexter recently completed a freshman outdoor season in which she collected six first place finishes and scored third place points in three events, out of four she competed, in helping the Skyhawks claim the Northeast-10 Outdoor Championship to clinch a sweep of all three NE-10 titles in women's cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field.

 Dexter, who qualified for the New England Championships for the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes as well as with Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay, finished third at the NE-10 Championships for the 100-meter dash in 12.55-seconds as well as the 200-meter dash in 25.51-seconds. She also ran the anchor leg for the 4x100-meter relay which also finished third in 48.44-seconds and competed in the long jump in which she placed ninth with a distance of 16-feet, 9.75-inches. Dexter collected NE-10 Track Rookie of the Week honors in back to back weeks on April 12 and 18.

Dexter was part of two school-record performances during the outdoor season as a freshman, setting the school mark in the 100-meter dash with her first place finish at the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Invitational in 12.21-seconds on April 16. She also ran the anchor leg for the school-record 4x100 relay at the Skyhawk Invitational on April 30 with a time of 47.97-seconds. Dexter ran a personal-best time of 25.20-seconds in the 200m prelims at the New England Outdoor Championships where she finished ninth overall for the event.

Dexter also broke a school record in the 60-meter dash during the indoor track & field season with her fourth place finish at the NE-10 Indoor Championships in 7.81-seconds. She also qualified for the New England Indoor Championships for the 60-meters and 200-meters, posting two first place finishes over the course of the Skyhawks indoor season.

Stonehill capped the outdoor track & field season having captured its second NE-10 Outdoor Championship in program history, qualifying two student-athletes to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in Bradenton, Florida, and posting an eighth place team finish at the New England Outdoor Championships. Junior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) collected outdoor All-America honors for the second straight year with her program-best third place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
