Stonehill posts 13 total All-Region performances during outdoor season

EASTON, Mass. (May 19, 2016) – Eight members of the Stonehill College women's track & field program have earned a combined 13 All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their efforts during the outdoor season, the organization announced yesterday. The awards recognize each of the region's top five performers in individual events and top three teams in relay events.

Junior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) led the way for Stonehill with four All-Region performances, finishing in the region's top five in the 800-meter run, 1500-meter run, the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 5000-meter run.

Borofski earned two of her four All-Region honors two weekends ago at the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships, turning in program records and NCAA Championship provisional qualifying efforts in both the 1500-meter run (4:28.69 seconds) and the 5000-meter run (16:55.98). Earlier in the season, Borofski earned All-Region honors in back-to-back weeks, posting a personal best time of 2:13.53 in the 800-meter run at the Minutemen Invitational and then setting another program record in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Invitational (10:21.40). Borofski has now amassed a total of 13 All-Region awards for both indoor/outdoor track & field over her three years at Stonehill.

Junior All-American Aisha McAdams (North Kingston, Rhode Island/North Kingston) and senior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) each garnered two All-Region accolades apiece to tie for the second highest total on the team during the outdoor season.

McAdams collects her eighth All-Region honor of her career, accomplishing the feat in the 800-meter run at the Minutemen Invitational (2:14.43) and the 1500-meter run at the NE-10 Outdoor Championships, where she provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship (4:29.34). Pierson picks up her seventh All-Region selection for the indoor and outdoor season for her career, while being honored in multiple events for the first time. Pierson earned her fourth straight All-Region honor in the discus throw when she won her third straight NE-10 Championship in the event (135-feet, 5-inches). She also collects All-Region recognition in the shot put during the outdoor season for the first time in her career, throwing her way to a school record at the Skyhawk Invitational (42-feet, 1.5-inches).

Senior All-American's Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) and Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville), sophomore Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson) and freshmen Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) and Colleen Perry (Weymouth, Massachusetts/Weymouth) round out Stonehill's eight All-East Region performers for the 2015-16 outdoor season, as they earned one award each.

Carberry posted her second career All-Region effort in the 800-meter run, and third overall, earlier in the season at the Holy Cross Invitational with a time of 2:16.67. She has also been recognized with the distance medley relay. Esernio, who earned All-Region status in the 100-meter hurdles with a program record time of 14.54 seconds at the Minutemen Invitational, collects her sixth All-Region award and third in the event.

Tobin, a four-time All-Region honoree in the pole vault, earns the distinction after setting the program record with a height of 10-feet, 8-inches at the Minutemen Invitational on April 16^th.

Daggett earned her second career All-Region honor at the Minutemen Invitational when she provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships and set a new program record in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-feet, 7.25-inches. Perry collects her first All-Region honor after finishing in fourth place in the heptathlon at the NE-10 Championships two weeks ago with 3,647 points.

Stonehill will cap its outdoor season on May 26-28 when its qualified individuals will compete at the NCAA DII Track & Field Championships, held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
