Borofski and McAdams claim individual titles as Stonehill turns in five All-New England performances
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 14, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team posted five more All-New England performances today on its way to an eighth-place finish at the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State University at Jess Dow field.
Stonehill compiled 37.5 points at the meet, with Division I Northeastern University producing the top team in New England with 140 points. Fellow Division I member University of Rhode Island finished in second place with 92.6 points. Northeast-10 runners up Southern Connecticut State University finished third with 67 points. Rounding out the top five were Sacred Heart university (51 points) and MIT (46 points).
Junior All-Americans Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) and Aisha McAdams (North Kingston, Rhode Island/North Kingston) provided the highlight for Stonehill on the final day of the New England Outdoor Championships, as both runners claimed individual titles. Borofski earned All-New England honors after finishing first in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:23.77. McAdams also earned All-New England accolades when she won the 1500-meter run in 4:33.35.
Junior Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield) joined McAdams in the 1500-meter run and posted her first individual All-New England performance, finishing sixth with a time of 4:41.49. Freshmen Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) and Elizabeth Hannon (Franklin, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, with times of 4:51.00 and 4:51.33.
Stonehill registered its final two All-New England performances with the 4x400 and 4x800-meter relays. The 4x800 relay of senior All-American Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy), Buonfiglio, senior Molly Hellman (Rumson, New Jersey/Rumson-Fairhaven Regional) and McAdams finished third with a time of 9:15.64.

The 4x400-meter relay team of senior All-American's Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate), and Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville), freshman Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) and senior All-American Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) placed fifth with a time of 3:55.34.
Senior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) competed in two events today, placing 11th in the shot put with a distance of 41-feet, 6.5-inches and 21st in the discus throw with a mark of 100-feet, 2.5-inches. Sophomore Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) finished 21st in the shot put with a throw of 37-feet, 4-inches.
Stonehill's 4x100-meter relay team placed ninth with a time of 48.23 seconds. Junior Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) ran the first 100-meters before handing off to sophomore Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) for the second leg, with freshman Hannah Ameen (Andover, Massachusetts/Andover) completing the third leg and then classmate Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/U-32) finishing the anchor leg.
Stonehill will be off next weekend before returning to action on May 26-27, when its qualified individuals compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida.
