SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 6, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team, ranked first in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, is in first place after day one of the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by American International College.
Stonehill posted four All-Conference performances, three event wins, two NCAA Championship provisional qualifying efforts, and a program record today on its way to 54 points. Southern Connecticut State University is close behind with 42 points, while Franklin Pierce University sits in third with 38 points.
Junior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) set a meet and program record in the 1500-meter run, winning the event with a time of 4:28.69. Borofski's time, which meets the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, ranks 15th on the Division II performance list.
Junior All-American Aisha McAdams (North Kingston, Rhode Island/North Kingston) made it a clean sweep for Stonehill in the 1500-meter run as she earned All-Conference honors after placing second with a time of 4:29.34. McAdams' time also meets the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Outdoor Championships and ranks 17th on the Division II performance list. Classmate Alexandra Grimaldo (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) and freshman Jillian Caiazzi (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) placed sixth (4:45.51) and seventh (4:47.08) in the event, earning Stonehill five points.
Sophomore Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson) turned in the second All-Conference performance of her career in the pole vault, finishing first as she cleared 10-feet to claim her first ever NE-10 championship in the event.
Stonehill's 4x800 relay team finished first, claiming All-Conference honors in 9:24.04. Senior All-American Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) ran the lead leg, followed by classmate Molly Hellman (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) and Caiazzi before McAdams ran the anchor leg.

Sophomore Abby Hersom (Rockland, Maine/Oceanside) earned Stonehill five points with her fourth place finish in the 10000-meter run with a time of 39:36.68. Junior Margaret Lepley (Lynn, Massachusetts/Bishop Fenwick) also earned the Skyhawks a total of five points, placing sixth in the javelin throw with a distance of 117-feet, and seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 140-feet, 3-inches. Senior Jenn Tenczar (Chicopee, Massachusetts/Chicopee) finished in eighth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 137-feet, 1-inch.
Senior Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) qualified for tomorrow's final in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds, the second-fastest in the prelims.
The trio of freshman Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/U-32), sophomore Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) and senior Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) qualified for tomorrow's final in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Dexter finished third (12.60 seconds), Polvere fifth (12.67 seconds) and Kent sixth (12.72 seconds) in the preliminaries for the 100-meter dash, while Polvere finished fourth (25.79 seconds), Dexter fifth (25.96 seconds), Kent sixth (25.92 seconds) and senior All-American Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) finished in eighth with a time of 25.98 seconds to all qualify for tomorrow's championship in the 200-meter dash.
Stonehill will return to action tomorrow on day two of the Outdoor Championships, with heptathlon events starting at 9:30 a.m. Field events are slated to begin at 10:15 a.m., while track events are scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m.
