Borofski & Daggett Earn NE-10 Weekly Honors

Borofski named Track Athlete of the Week for second time in her career

Daggett collects Field Rookie of the Week for fourth straight week

EASTON, Mass. (April 27, 2016) – Two members of the Stonehill College women's track and field program have collected weekly honors from the Northeast-10 Conference the league office announced.

Junior All-American Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) has been named the Northeast-10's women's track Athlete of the Week, while freshman Courtney Daggett (Attleboro, Massachusetts/Attleboro) has earned the Conference's women's field Rookie of the Week for their efforts as the Skyhawks competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational and Holy Cross Invitational on Friday and Sunday of last week.

Borofski, who earns NE-10 Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in her career, was one of two Stonehill runners who competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday. Borofski earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships next month in the 3000-meter steeplechase, breaking her previous program record with a time of 10:21.40. Borofski finished third among collegiate runners behind two Ivy League and a Canadian college runner and eighth overall, eclipsing the previous program record of 10:32.99 she set last year at the New England Outdoor Championships. Her time currently ranks third on the NCAA DII performance list to date.

Borofski is a three-time All-American over the course of her career at Stonehill, having achieved the status as a member of the cross country team and twice as part of the indoor track & field team. She collected her first All-American honor during the fall as she placed 39th at the 2015 cross country NCAA Championships. Her next two All-American performances came in March as she ran the one mile anchor leg of the 4000-meter distance medley relay that finished sixth at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, in a school record time of 11:35.05. She picked up her third All-American accolade the next day as she placed 12th in the 3000-meter run in 9:46.84.

Daggett continues to have a breakout freshman campaign as the Attleboro, Massachusetts native earns her fourth consecutive Field Rookie of the Week honors. Daggett earns the award after competing against all Division I competition at the Holy Cross Invitational in the high jump, placing second with a height of 5-feet, 3-inches.

Daggett, the 2015-16 Field Rookie of the Year for the indoor season, owns both the indoor and outdoor track & field high jump school records, breaking the indoor record at the New England Championships and posting an All-New England performance with a height of 5-feet, 5.25-inches. She broke the outdoor school record at the Minutemen Invitational two weeks ago, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship with a height of 5-feet, 7.25-inches. With that height, Daggett currently owns the top spot in the NE-10 in the event.

Stonehill returns to action next Saturday when it hosts its Skyhawk Invitational, held at W.B. Mason Stadium.
