Borofski sets program mark in the 5000-meter run
McAdams posts school record time in 1500-meter run
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 1, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team, ranked first in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, returned to action today competing against primarily Division I competition at the 51th Annual Colonial Relays, hosted by The College of William & Mary at Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Junior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) registered Stonehill's top performance of the day, as she placed ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a school record time of 16:59.63, earning four team points for the Skyhawks in the process. Borofski surpassed the previous school record, set almost two years ago by Chelsea Bishop, '14, by over 14 seconds. After today's race, Borofski now owns the second fastest time run in the country in the event, and only .63 seconds behind the national leader.
Junior Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) posted a program record today as well, as she placed 17th overall in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:32.11. McAdams eclipsed her own record which she set last year, and with her current time has the fifth fastest time in the country in the event. Classmate Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield) also competed in the 1500-meter run, earning a time of 4:49.18, good for 47th overall. Both Borofski and McAdams' efforts were good enough to automatically qualify for the New England Championships and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships next month.
Last night, junior Margaret Lepley (Lynn, Massachusetts//Bishop Fenwick) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 136-feet, 11-inches. Lepley also competed in the javelin throw today, recording a toss of 106-feet, eight-inches, good for 22nd place. Senior Jenn Tenczar (Chicopee, Massachusetts/Chicopee) placed 13th in the hammer throw with a distance of 129-feet flat, while sophomore Julianne Holbrook finished 28th with a toss of 96-feet flat.

Freshman Olivia Dexter (East Calais, Vermont/U-32) led a list of three Skyhawks in the 100-meter dash prelims, as she placed 35th among 91 entries with a time of 12.45, but failed to make it to the final. Classmate Hannah Ameen (Andover, Massachusetts/Andover) finished in 72nd after earning a time of 12.89, and senior Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) placed four spots behind Ameen in 76th in 13.00.
Senior Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) posted the 44th fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles prelim, clocking in at 15.34 seconds, but failed to qualify for the final.
Senior Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) competed in the 800-meter run and finished in 36th place with a time of 2:17.56, while classmate Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) placed 74th out of 102 entries in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:00.58.
Senior Molly Hellman (Rumson, New Jersey/Rumson-Fairhaven Regional) finished 50th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.33.
Freshman Krista Fernandes (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) finished in 50th place with a time of 1:07.63 in the 400-meter hurdles, while sophomore Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) competed in the 200-meter dash and finished in 26.00 seconds, good for 62nd place out of 106 competitors.
Stonehill will be back in action tomorrow at day three of the 51st Annual Colonial Relays, before heading to Springfield, Mass. next weekend for the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College at the John G. Hoyt Track & Field Complex.
