18th- year head coach earns second consecutive NE-10 Coach of the Year

EASTON, Mass. (March 25, 2016) – Stonehill College head women's track & field coach Karen Boen has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year for the indoor season, the league office announced today.

This honor comes two week after Boen earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Women's Coach of the Year honors for the sixth time in her career. This is also her sixth career Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year award for track & field, including her fourth with the women's team.

Boen led the Stonehill women to their third consecutive NE-10 indoor title on February 20th, as the Skyhawks posted six event wins and 11 All-Conference performances to edge Southern Connecticut State University with 157.50 total points. The following weekend, Boen guided Stonehill to a program record seventh-place finish at the New England Championships.

Stonehill capped its indoor campaign on March 12th at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships at Pittsburg State University in the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. The Skyhawks had a strong showing as the women's DMR ran by Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate), Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North), Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) and Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) earned All-American status as they finished in sixth place. Borofski collected her fourth All-American performance over her career the next day, as she took home second team honors in the 3000-meters for the first time in her career after her 12th place finish in 9:46.84.

Now in her 18th year at Stonehill, Boen also serves as the head coach of Stonehill's men's track & field team, as well as both the men's and women's cross country programs. This past fall, she was named NE-10 Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year for the 13th time in her career after leading the Skyhawks to their 14th consecutive conference championship and 16th straight trip to the NCAA Championships.
