Stonehill Women’s Distance Medley Relay Named NE-10 Relay Of The Week

EASTON, Mass. (February 8, 2016) – The Stonehill College women's 4000-meter distance medley relay team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Relay of the Week for women's track and field, the league office announced today.

Stonehill's distance medley relay team won the event on Saturday at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, with a time of 11:44.22. The time not only was the second fastest registered in the country, but it was also good enough to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas in March. Junior Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) ran the opening 1200-meter leg in 3:29.00, before giving way to senior All-American Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate), who completed the 400-meter portion in 57.5 seconds, followed by junior Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield), who finished the 800-meter leg in 2:20.02, and finally junior Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) ran the 1-mile anchor leg in 4:55.21. Their time beat the provisional qualifying mark of 12:10.84 by more than 25 seconds, and was momentarily the fastest time run in the country.

Stonehill, ranked first in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association East Regional Computer Rankings, will be back in action this Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
