Stonehill Sets Two Program Records On Day Two Of New England Outdoor Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 9, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team set a pair of program records today on day two of the 2015 New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at Henry G. Steinbrenner Stadium.

Junior All-American Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) qualified for tomorrow's final in the 100-meter hurdles with a program record time of 14.52 seconds in the prelims, good for sixth overall. Esernio will go for her second career All-New England performance tomorrow at 1:40 p.m.

Senior All-American Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford), who captured a Northeast-10 Conference championship in the long jump last weekend, posted her seventh career All-New England effort today with a leap of 18 feet, 5.25 inches to finish seventh overall.

Junior Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) placed 14th out of 31 entries in the 400-meter hurdles prelims with a program record time of 1:04.55.

Junior All-American Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) turned in a 14th-place finish in the 100-meter dash prelims, clocking in at 12.55 seconds. Kent also competed in the 200-meter dash prelims, where she finished 19th overall with a time of 25.93 seconds.

Junior Haela Booth-Howe (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough), Stonehill's lone entry in a field event today, placed 17th in the javelin throw with a distance of 114 feet, ten inches.

Junior All-American Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) finished 23rd in the 400-meter dash prelims with a time of 57.76 seconds.

Stonehill will be back at MIT tomorrow for day three of the New England Outdoor Championships at Steinbrenner Stadium.
