Skyhawks won indoor and outdoor conference titles in 2013-14 before capturing 2015 indoor crown
EASTON, Mass. (April 30, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team, ranked second in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, will look to defend its Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championship tomorrow and Saturday on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven, Connecticut.
Stonehill has won three consecutive NE-10 Track & Field championships overall, with victories at the 2014 and 2015 indoor meets in addition to last May's outdoor title that the Skyhawks captured at W.B. Mason Stadium.
Friday's action will get underway at 10 a.m. with the decathlon, while the women's hammer throw and women's long jump are slated to begin at 2 p.m. and the women's 100-meter dash prelims are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Live results and video streaming will be available via www.southernctowls.com.
Senior All-American Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) will look to make an impact in three individual events, as she is seeded first in the long jump (18' 4.25''), third in the 400-meter dash (55.24 seconds) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (25.03 seconds). Curit posted a pair of runner-up finishes in the long jump as a freshman and junior at the NE-10 Outdoor Championships, while also capturing the 400-meter title as a freshman in 2012.
Joining Curit in both the 200 and 400 will be junior All-American Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate). Gray is seeded ninth in the 200 with a time of 25.14 seconds, and seventh in the 400 with a time of 56.91 seconds. She has competed in the 400 at each of the last two Outdoor Championships, finishing eighth as a freshman in 2013 and fifth as a sophomore last May.
Sophomore Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North), an All-Conference performer in the 3000-meter steeplechase last year, is seeded first in the event heading into this weekend's action with a program record and NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time of 10:42.73, set on April 17th at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
Borofski is also among six Skyhawks set to compete in the 1500-meter run, as she is seeded first with a time of 4:32.83. Borofski will be joined by classmate Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown), who is seeded second (4:35.28), while sophomore Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield) and senior Erin Rielly (Burlington, Massachusetts/Burlington) are seeded fourth (4:50.64) and sixth (4:54.82), respectively.

Junior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) will defend her 2014 discus throw title, as she is seeded first in the event with a distance of 128 feet, two inches. Pierson is also seeded second in the shot put (41' 3.25''), while freshman Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) is sixth (39' 4'').
Stonehill is expected to receive several strong performances in the 800-meter run, where five Skyhawks are seeded in the top-eight. Senior Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield), the defending NE-10 Outdoor 800-meter champion, is seeded first (2:13.05) while Rielly is third (2:17.55) and Buonfiglio fifth (2:18.40). Freshman Paige Campbell (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) and McAdams are seeded seventh and eighth, respectively.
Junior All-American Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville), who just missed earning All-Conference honors in the 100-meter hurdles with her third place finish last spring, is seeded fourth this year with a time of 14.70 seconds. Classmate Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) is seeded seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 1:06.47.
Senior Brianna Venturo (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) is seeded fifth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:19.18, while junior All-American Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) is among four Stonehill entries in the 100-meter dash, seeded sixth with a time of 12.52 seconds.
Stonehill's 4x800-meter relay is seeded first with a time of 9:12.29, while the 4x400-meter relay and 4x100-meter relay are seeded third (3:47.72) and fourth (49.12 seconds), respectively.
Junior Haela Booth-Howe (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough), who posted seventh-place finishes in both the javelin and discus throw last spring, is seeded third in the javelin (131' 8'') and fifth in the discus (108' 4'') heading into this weekend.
