Senior Maria Curit, sophomore Nicole Borofski post NCAA provisional qualifying performances

PRINCETON, N.J. (April 17, 2015) – Three members of the Stonehill College women's track & field team were in action this evening at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University at Weaver Stadium in Princeton, New Jersey.

Senior All-American Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) provisionally qualified for next month's NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.49, good for 11th overall out of 61 participants. Curit's effort, which was just 1.49 seconds off the NCAA's automatic qualifying standard and less than a second slower than her own program record time of 2:08.72, is tied for the third-fastest time in Division II for the 800-meter run.

Sophomore Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) also turned in an NCAA provisional qualifying performance in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as she broke a six-year old program record with a time of 10:42.73. Borofski finished second in her heat and 15th overall, eclipsing the mark of 10:53.24 set by Jenny Gardynski, '09, at the 2009 New England Outdoor Championships. Her time currently ranks ninth on the NCAA DII performance list.

Sophomore Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) narrowly missed posting Stonehill's third NCAA provisional qualifying effort of the evening in the 1500-meter run, but she did earn a personal best time in the event after clocking in at 4:35.28. McAdams finished second in her heat and 32nd overall, and was less than a second off both the NCAA provisional mark (4:34.73) and the program record (4:34.38).

The rest of the Stonehill women's track & field team will be in action tomorrow at the Holy Cross Invitational, hosted by the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
