Senior All-American Maria Curit won her third career NE-10 indoor title in the long jump and also earned All-Conference honors in the 400-meter dash.

Skyhawks post six event wins and edge out Southern Connecticut State with 160.5 points

BOSTON, Mass. (February 21, 2015) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team, ranked No. 19 in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II National Computer Rankings, posted six event wins and ten All-Conference performances en route to capturing its second consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship this evening at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

Stonehill earned its second straight NE-10 indoor title and third consecutive conference track & field championship overall by compiling 160.5 total points. Runner-up Southern Connecticut State University was close behind with 156 points, while the University of New Haven finished third with 111.5 points. American International College and Adelphi University rounded out the top-5 with 84 and 77 points, respectively. Stonehill's championship is the seventh of the academic year and third of the winter season.

Senior All-American Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford), who was seeded fourth in the long jump, won her third career NE-10 Indoor Championship in the event and broke her own program record with a distance of 19 feet, 3.50 inches. Her effort meets the provisional qualifying standard for next month's NCAA Championships, and currently ranks 13^th nationally.

Curit also earned All-Conference honors with her second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 55.53 seconds, while finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash in 25.08 seconds.

Sophomore Aisha McAdams (North Kingstown, Rhode Island/North Kingstown) broke the NE-10 Indoor Championship record in the 3000-meter run and earned her first NE-10 title with a time of 10:02.39. Classmate Alexandra Grimaldo (Marlborough, Massachusetts/Marlborough) added five points to Stonehill's team score with her fourth place finish in 10:54.01.

Stonehill earned 16 team points with a pair of strong performances in the 1-mile run, as sophomore Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) and freshman Julie Schultz (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica) placed first and third, respectively. Borofski set an NE-10 Indoor Championship record and improved her NCAA provisional qualifying time with her mark of 4:54.66, while Schultz posted a time of 5:21.79.  Borofski, who was ranked 26^th among the DII leaders in the event entering tonight's action, improved her standing to 15^th.

Junior Jordan Gray posted her second straight All-Conference performance in the 500-meter run, placing second tonight in 1:15.59.

Sophomore Alexandra Buonfiglio (Lynnfield, Massachusetts/Lynnfield), who was seeded first in the 1000-meter run, collected her first NE-10 Championship with a time of 3:02.31. Freshman Madison McGlone (Bellmore, New York/John F. Kennedy) and junior Molly Hellman (Rumson, New Jersey/Rumson-Fairhaven Regional) placed fourth and seventh, respectively, with times of 3:10.16 and 3:12.39.

Junior Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) captured her second consecutive All-Conference honor at the NE-10 Indoor Championships in the 500-meter run, as she placed second with a time of 1:15.59. Sophomore Megan Bobinski (Torrington, Connecticut/Holy Cross) joined Gray in the event and turned in a time of 1:24.54, good for tenth overall.

Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay and 4x800-meter relay each placed first and turned in NE-10 Indoor Championship records with times of 12:26.73 and 9:25.04, respectively, while the 4x400-meter relay finished third in 3:51.92. Schultz, freshman Victoria Sheridan (Great Meadows, New Jersey/Pope John XXIII), Hellman, and Grimaldo ran the DMR, while seniors Erin Rielly (Burlington, Massachusetts/Burlington) and Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield), and the sophomore duo of Borofski and McAdams competed with the 4x800 relay. The 4x400 relay of Curit, Gray, and classmates Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) and Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) was just 2.32 seconds away from matching its program record.

Senior Brianna Venturo (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) claimed All-Conference honors for the first time in the 5000-meter run, placing second and clocking in at 18:36.22, while classmate Brittany Venturo (Taunton, Massachusetts/Coyle & Cassidy) finished fifth in 18:52.87.

Stonehill had several strong performances in the 800-meter run, as Skyhawks occupied four of the top six spots in the event. Wilson led the way with her second place finish, earning All-Conference honors in the 800 for the third time in her career with a time of 2:16.88. Rielly followed Wilson in third and clocked in at 2:17.55, while junior Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) finished fifth in 2:21.82. Rounding out Stonehill's four entries in the 800 was freshman Erin Colford (Epping, New Hampshire/St. Thomas Aquinas), who earned three points with her sixth-place finish in 2:22.77. Both Wilson and Rielly's efforts were good enough to qualify for next weekend's New England Championships.

Freshman Alison Tobin tied for third in the pole vault, clearing a height of nine feet, 6.25 inches.

Esernio just missed earning All-Conference honors with her third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals, but she posted a program-record matching time of 8.95 seconds. Esernio qualified for the finals with a time of 9.06 seconds in the prelims. Freshmen Azariah Boyd (Brockton, Massachusetts/Brockton) and Phoebe Fitzgibbon (Westwood, Massachusetts/Westwood) and senior Lauren Hanlon (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) also competed in the event, placing 11^th, 14^th, and 17^th, respectively.

Freshman Gaelin Farrell (Baldwinville, Massachusetts/Narragansett Regional) and junior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) combined to earn nine points in the shot put, as they placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Farrell registered a distance of 39 feet, four inches, while Pierson was right behind with a throw of 39 feet, 1.25 inches.

Competing at her first NE-10 Championship, freshman Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson) earned 5.5 points towards Stonehill's team score as she tied for third in the pole vault, clearing a height of nine feet, 6.25 inches.

Sophomore Maggie Lepley (Lynn, Massachusetts/Bishop Fenwick) earned two points with her seventh-place finish in the weight throw, recording a distance of 42 feet, 8.25 inches, while junior Jenn Tenczar (Chicopee, Massachusetts/Chicopee) placed ninth with a throw of 40 feet, nine inches.

Kent finished eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.76 seconds, while freshman Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) and sophomore Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) placed 14^th and 19^th, respectively.

Kent also finished ninth in the 60-meter dash prelims, clocking in at 7.97 seconds, while Finley Moise and senior Christina Russo (Winthrop, Massachusetts/Winthrop) placed 13^th and 18^th.

Stonehill will be right back in action next weekend at the New England Championships, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
