Junior Leanne Kent finishes second in the 400-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash
BOSTON, Mass. (December 6, 2014) – The Stonehill College women's track & field team opened its 2014-15 indoor season today at the 3rd Annual University of Massachusetts Boston Indoor Open, held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Junior Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park) posted Stonehill's lone event win of the day, as she took first place in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 3.25 inches.
Junior Leanne Kent (North Andover, Massachusetts/Central Catholic) registered a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.7, and classmate Jordan Gray (Warwick, Rhode Island/Toll Gate) placed third in the 500-meter dash after clocking in at 1:19.39.
Kent also finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.57 seconds, while freshman Emily Polvere (Somers, New York/Somers) and sophomore Tulie Finley-Moise (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) placed sixth and tenth, respectively, in their Stonehill debuts. Polvere earned a time of 26.92 seconds, while Finley-Moise clocked in at 27.00 seconds.
Freshman Alison Tobin (Hudson, Massachusetts/Hudson) joined Kent, Polvere, and Finley-Moise in the 200, finishing 26th in 27.61 seconds, while senior Christina Russo (Winthrop, Massachusetts/Winthrop) placed 39th in 27.99 seconds. Tobin also finished 11th in the pole vault with a height of nine feet, 6.25 inches.

Finley-Moise led three Stonehill entries in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 8.23 seconds, narrowly missing the qualifying mark for the final with the tenth-fastest time. Russo finished 17th in the prelims after clocking in at 8.32 seconds, while Polvere's time of 8.37 seconds was good for 23rd.
Freshman Paige Campbell (Lexington, Massachusetts/Lexington) and junior Erin Carberry (Milton, Massachusetts/Thayer Academy) earned two of the five fastest times in the 800-meter run, with Campbell placing third in 2:20.92 and Carberry taking fifth in 2:21.71.
Freshman Erin Colford (Epping, New Hampshire/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished second in the 1000-meter run, posting a time of 3:16.67, while classmate Madison McGlone (Bellmore, New York/John F. Kennedy) placed 17th in the 1-mile run, clocking in at 5:42.96.
A trio of Skyhawks reached the 60-meter hurdles finals, led by junior Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville), who placed second in 9.34 seconds. Senior Lauren Hanlon (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) and freshman Phoebe Fitzgibbon (Westwood, Massachusetts/Westwood) were sixth and eighth with times of 9.72 and 9.99 seconds, respectively. Fitzgibbon also tied for 12th place in the high jump after clearing four feet, 11 inches.
Junior Molly Hellman (Rumson, New Jersey/Rumson-Fairhaven Regional) and freshman Abby Hersom (Rockland, Maine/Oceanside) finished sixth and 18th, respectively, in the 3000-meter run, with times of 11:09.67 and 11:55.02.
Junior Stephanie Fitzgerald (Coventry, Rhode Island/Coventry) tied for 13th in the long jump with a distance of 15 feet, 8.25 inches, before placing eighth in the triple jump and earning a mark of 33 feet, 9.5 inches.
Sophomore Maggie Lepley (Lynn, Massachusetts/Bishop Fenwick) led three Stonehill entries in the weight throw with a toss of 40 feet, 6.25 inches, which was good for fifth place. Junior Jenn Tenczar (Chicopee, Massachusetts/Chicopee) finished eighth as her throw reached 39 feet, 2.25 inches, while freshman Julianne Holbrook (Pembroke, Massachusetts/Pembroke) placed 15th with a throw of 36 feet, 7.5 inches.
Stonehill will be back at the Reggie Lewis Center next weekend for its last meet of the semester, as the Skyhawks are scheduled to compete at the Jay Carisella Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University.
