EASTON, Mass. (May 13, 2014) – 11 student-athletes from the Stonehill College women's track & field program have earned a total of 17 All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), it was announced yesterday. The awards recognize each region's top five performers in individual events and top three teams in relay events.

Senior Chelsea Bishop (Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield) and junior Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) led the way with three nods apiece, while senior Elizabeth LaRegina (New Fairfield, Connecticut/New Fairfield) and junior Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Connecticut/Suffield) collected two honors each.

Bishop posted top-5 regional performances in the 3000-meter steeplechase, 5000-meter run, and the 10,000-meter run, for which she will compete at the NCAA Championships in two weekends. The senior's three All-Region awards this season give her five total in her career, as she was recognized for the 5000 during her junior and senior indoor seasons. Curit matched Bishop with three awards, as she registered All-Region efforts in the long jump, the 400-meter dash, and the 800-meter run. Curit, who automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 800 last weekend with a time of 2:08.72, now has 11 All-East Region performances in her career, including three each for this year's indoor and outdoor seasons.

LaRegina, who picked up three honors during the indoor season, adds two more to her total to cap off her senior campaign. She registered top-5 regional performances in the 800-meter run and 1500-meter run, giving her six career All-Region accolades in her career. Wilson rounds out Stonehill's four student-athletes that posted multiple All-Region efforts, as she is being recognized for the 800-meter run and the 1500-meter run as well. Wilson, who earned All-East Region accolades in the 800 during the indoor season, now has six such awards in her career.

Seniors Meaghan Olin (Goshen, New York/Goshen), Emily Regan (Hanson, Massachusetts/Whitman-Hanson), and Katie Polakowski (Essex Junction, Vermont/Essex), as well as junior Emily Anderson (Manchester, Connecticut/Manchester), sophomores Jeana Esernio (Stony Brook, New York/Ward Melville) and Trisha Pierson (East Hanover, New Jersey/Hanover Park), and freshman Nicole Borofski (Plymouth, Massachusetts/Plymouth North) were each recognized with one award each.

Olin collects the fourth All-Region honor of her career for the pole vault, while Anderson is being recognized for the 1500-meter run, giving her three All-Region accolades in her career. Regan, who picked up her first All-Region honor during the indoor season for the 5000-meter run, is being recognized for the same event after earning a time of 17:18.85 at last weekend's New England Championships.

Polakowski and Esernio, who were each named to the All-East Region team during the 2012-13 indoor season for the 4x400-meter relay, earned their second career All-Region honors this season. Polakowski is being recognized for her effort in the 400-meter hurdles, while Esernio collects All-Region accolades for the 100-meter hurdles.

Rounding out Stonehill's All-East Region performers are Pierson and Borofski, who are being recognized by the USTFCCCA for the first time in their careers. Pierson, who is coming off an NE-10 championship in the discus throw two weekends ago, earns All-Region honors for the discus with a mark of 131 feet, 11 inches. Borofski joins Bishop with a top-5 regional effort in the steeplechase, as she recorded a time of 11:16.18 at the New England Championships.

Curit and Bishop will wrap up the outdoor season for Stonehill in two weekends at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, at the Grand Valley Track & Field Stadium. Stonehill, ranked first in this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East Region Computer Rankings, captured its first Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 3rd before placing 11th at the New England Championships last weekend.
