DMR places ninth, Wilson and Curit finish 13^th and 14^th in prelims, respectively

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (March 14, 2014) – The Stonehill College women's track and field team, ranked second in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II East Regional computer rankings, wrapped up its indoor season today at the 2014 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Visit Winston-Salem and Winston-Salem State University, at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Stonehill's 4000-meter distance medley relay, which won New England and Northeast-10 Championships the last two times it competed, narrowly missed earning All-America honors today after placing ninth with a time of 11:54.08. Grand Valley State University, the eighth and final team to collect All-America accolades, finished just 1.03 seconds faster than Stonehill. Junior Emily Anderson (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) led off the relay with a 3:45.31 split in the opening 1200-meter leg, sophomore Jordan Gray (Warwick, R.I./Toll Gate) followed with a 56.67 mark in the 400-meter portion, junior Maria Curit (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford) posted a 2:13.39 time in the 800-meter leg, and senior Elizabeth LaRegina (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield) finished it off with a 4:58.73 split in the 1-mile anchor leg. Adams State University won the event with a time of 11:40.51, while Cal State Stanislaus placed second in 11:40.67.

Curit was also one of two Skyhawks competing in individual events, as she was seeded 10^th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.09 seconds. Curit placed 14^th out of 17 participants in the prelims with a time of 56.99 seconds, failing to advance to tomorrow's event final. Senior Kayon Robinson of Adams State took the top spot in 54.63 seconds, while junior Quanera Hayes of Livingstone College placed second in 54.82 seconds.

Junior Sarah Wilson (West Suffield, Conn./Suffield) finished 13^th out of 17 competitors in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:13.43. Wilson also did not qualify for Saturday's final, as the top eight advance. Senior Shawnee Carnett of Concord University claimed first place in 2:09.18, and senior McKayla Fricker of Seattle Pacific University came in second with a time of 2:10.00.

Stonehill will be right back in action next weekend for the start of its 2014 outdoor season at the BSU Bears Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater State University at the Swenson Athletic Field Complex.
