Riverside, R.I., native turns in 17th-place finish in 5000-meters to highlight Skyhawk entries

PRINCETON, N.J. (April 17, 2010) – Freshman Erin Carmone (Riverside, R.I./East Providence) highlighted day one for the Stonehill College outdoor track and field teams at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, at Weaver Stadium on Friday night.

Carmone placed 17th out of 56 entries in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:34.65, which ranked fourth among non-Division I collegiate runners in the event.

Junior Patrick Fullerton (Bradford, Mass./Haverhill) finished 52nd out of 73 runners in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:57.00, good for sixth among non-Division I collegiate entries.

Freshman Sean Hanlon (Georgetown, Mass./St. John’s Prep) placed 67th out of 80 entries in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.72, good for ninth among non-Division I collegiate entries.

Junior Daniel Fidler (Carlisle, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) led two Stonehill entries in the men’s 5000-meter run with a time of 15:00.03 to place 78th overall, out of 99 overall competitors, good for 12th among non-Division I collegiate entries. Sophomore Stephen Polito (Worcester, Mass./Doherty Memorial) finished 84th overall, 14th among non-Division I collegiate entries, with a time of 15:05.15.

Day two at the Larry Ellis Invitational will see senior Kathryn O’Leary (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) in the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Jill Alves (Whitman, Mass./Whitman-Hanson) in the women’s 1500-meter run and classmate Christen Carrier (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Central) in the 800-meters. On the men’s side, freshman Corey Thomas (Brookline, Mass./BC High) will compete in both the 110-meter hurdles and high jump.

The remaining members of the Stonehill men’s and women’s track and field teams will be competing at the Holy Cross Invitational on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.
