New Haven, Conn. - Three School Records were broken and the Skyhawks finished second in seven events on their way to a third place finish at the Northeast-10 Championships he held Saturday at Southern Connecticut State. 

Freshman Vlada Shelkova (Newington, Conn.) broke her own school record in the triple jump with a distance of 35'2.5", while also taking second in the event.  Also breaking a records were junior Meghan Rocha (Nashua, N.H.) who broke a 15 year-old record in the weight throw with her toss of 38'7", and freshman Erica Insel (Clinton, N.J.) who had a toss of 37'4" in the shot put, breaking the school record by more than two feet.

The lone event in which the Skyhawks won, was the 4x800 relay made up of Christen Carrier (Manchester, N.H.), Lindsey Pinkham (Skowhegan, Maine), Lindsey Booth (Franklin, Mass.) and Susan O'Connell (East Greenwich, R.I.), who beat the next closest school by more than two seconds with their time of 9:58.00. 

Pinkham also took second in the 800 (2.22.81) while Booth was fourth in the 1000 (3:05.89) and O'Connell was third in the 500 (1:21.91) 

Senior Jenny Gardynski (Everett, Mass.) ran well for the Skyhawks, taking second in the mile with a time of 5:13.90 and third in the 3000 meters with a time 10:36.70. 

Also finishing second in their respective events were sophomores Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass.) (26.34 in the 200) and Colleen Carmen (Drexel Hill, Pa.) (5'1" in the high jump) and freshman Kristen Mahoney (Weymouth, Mass.) (19:23.25 in the 5000).  The Distance Medley Relay Team of Jill Alves (Whitman, Mass.), Shelkova, Hillary Curtis (Scarborough, Maine) and Kristina Coriaty (Brockton, Mass.) finished second as well with their time of 13:12.46.

Stonehill returns to action next week when many athletes will take part in the New Championships next weekend, February 28 and 29.
